@LouLouBelle: Oh that's amazing!!! Tyler has been in the R&P sleeper and I knew it was time to transition. He seems to like his crib so I'm hoping it will help with longer sleep in the end!

@winniebee: we transitioned Emma to her own room this week and her sleep is back to perfect, with longer naps than she has ever taken! Hopefully you will have similar success!

It's crazy! He did 2 long stretches a week ago again (8 hrs, 7 hrs) then back to frequent wakeup nonsense. We decided to transition him to his crib this week....hopefully after he is settled in the crib he will resume a better schedule. He's almost 4 months. Arrgh!

im trying to learn the hard way about baby sleep...it's never going to be predictable! our LO was sleeping 11-5 at 5 weeks, 10-5 at 9 weeks, 9-6 at 3 months. At 3.5 months, she stopped self soothing and stopped sleeping...literally couldnt stay asleep for even two hours. Now, at almost 5 mos, we are lucky if we get three or four hours in a row. Seems like the single most miserable torture you could ever inflict on a new mama....a baby that sleeps so consistently through the night every single night suddenly stops! we don't know what to do!

I'm curious to hear responses too! LO slept through the night twice last week - once going 10 hours between feedings! Since then she has been taking shorter naps, eating up a storm, and falling asleep for the night later - around 11pm. She will fuss a bit around 3 or 4am and if I bring her in bed with me, she'll sleep until 8am. I'm afraid to build a bad habit!

Welcome to babyhood!! My LO teased us with longer stretches around 6-9 weeks and right when I thought the stretches would get longer and longer, they just became more erratic instead! Some nights we would get 5 hours, other nights we would get 7-9. It drove me insane how inconsistent he was!

Things got waaaay better just after 4 months.

That's the worst :( because you get your hopes up! I used to freak out when Wagon Jr. slept less than I expected him to. Seriously, he'd be awake in his crib and I'd be downstairs, staring at the monitor, crying. :(

Needless to say, I'm a lot more relaxed about Lil Miss Wagon's sleep! It's been pretty consistent, about 1-2 hours at a time, sometimes 3 if we're lucky. Last night she had that stretch of sleep for 5 hours, but I know it's because she was up for 4 hours before that, and I would rather she stay predictable than repeat that!!!

aww!! sorry :(

YES. DS did that several times... enough for me to learn to never expect a good night twice in a row! lol

Once on vacation I let him sleep with me since DH was gone for the weekend, and he slept 8 hours straight, then nursed and went back to sleep for another two hours! It was incredible. That was two months ago, and now he sleeps a 7-8 hour stretch consistently.

After a week of a growth spurt and wonky (aka terrible) sleeping, my son slept through the night last weekend 2 nights in a row (9 hours one night and 7.5 the next)! However, he hasn't done it since! He's eating the same amount, we're doing the same sorts of things, and he's napping pretty much the same (a/k/a crappy 45 minute naps). I keep trying to recreate the magic that was last weekend, but can't! He's 14 weeks today. (He also slept for 8.5 hours once before at 10 weeks, though I knew it was a fluke).

Did your babies tease you with awesome stretches that didn't become the norm? How did you encourage them to do it again??
