@Mariposa: Birth is one of the hardest things a human being can ever go through. You did all the right things because you are here today, alive and able to post it. Even better, your baby is alive.

PPD and PTSD are both awful, and I hope you find some support among the bees. It is a great community.

Welcome, welcome!
(I also had an emergency c-section but I either lost consciousness or had more anesthesia so I don't remember anything after shaking on the table. I can't imagine what it was like to feel everything.)

@Mariposa: Welcome and good for you for getting yourself the help you need. I had a perfectly calm, scheduled c-section, but it was the scariest thing I've ever been through and I had a hard time afterwards. I cannot even imagine how it must have been for you with it being an emergency and without much pain management. You have every right to feel the way you do. You'll get through this and we're all here to help support you!

@Mariposa: Welcome, and congratulations for taking that first step of getting your story out there and finding people with similar experiences. It sounds like you are taking healthy steps to deal with something so horrific. I hope you find lots and lots of support here on the 'bee from mamas who can help with their perspective!! :)

I also had an emergency c section and while baby was fine....I was not.
The curtain dropped during the surgery, I saw my insides.....and I was throwing up, being pushed full of epinephrine for my blood pressure, then hemmoraging.

While I hate knowing that others had to go through similar experiences, knowing they have has helped me. Not everyone goes through a peachy birth experience.

If you haven't already, I would suggest joining the ICAN Facebook group and local chapter.

One thing someone told me that helped, is that women (humans) are the only animal willing to put their lives in danger and be cut open for the sake of their baby.
You are a strong, brave, woman and did what you needed to do for your child.

Thanks for the support. I have PPD too so it's been rough! It's hard to talk about to anyone in person- no one really 'gets' it and hubby and my dr try their best.

*hugs* I can empathize with the feelings of PTSD after a traumatic c-section delivery :( It's hard mama, I don't know if you're the praying kind, but I found it really helpful in my healing journey. Talking about it with my midwife and my husband and writing it out ... it's been 7 years, it still sucks, but the nightmares and anxiety are gone. There is hope for healing.

I'm so sorry that your birth experience was such a traumatic one. You're definitely in good company. After 2+ hours of pushing, I had to go in for an emergency C section. LO was born and needed a good amount of resuscitation and spent 2 days in the NICU. It took me a long time to get over everything that happened.

Know that you're not alone, and you're seeking help which is a great first step. Take your time healing and feel free to post all you want on the subject

Hi! Congrats on your baby! I am so sorry about your birth experience....I also had a bad experience with my first C-section and I had nightmares about it for a long time.

Hugs and I hope we see more of you on the boards!

Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry. I'm pretty sure @autumnlove: also felt most or all of her first c section so she may be a good resource for you. I hope as time goes on you'll be able to come to terms with your birth. Your LO and you are both alive and healthy... That's what matters!!

Hello,
First time posting. It's been a few months since my daughter was born and I wanted to tell my story anonymously since I haven't been able to speak about it in person yet. My therapist suggested blogging or writing on boards might be a good place to start.
I have PTSD from childbirth. My daughter almost died due to severe complications and needed to be born ASAP. I fully credit our doctor who was able to let me make the decision to perform an emergency c section with minimal time for any pain medications. I still have nightmares about it but I am so so glad my baby girl is safe and sound. I felt everything.
Thanks for reading this, it really does do me good to get it out there. <3
