@bhbee: that looks like a good one!

@ALV91711: @erinbaderin: I agree, discussions are so important. My older sister is the one who told me about sex when I was like 6 (she was 13). My parents never really talked to be about it either. We've discussed basics of puberty, but he gets really embarrassed. He loves to read so I think leaving a book in his room will help. Also letting him know he can go to DH with any questions.

We recently watched Turning Red so I explained what periods were. He's seen my products so he kind of had an idea.

Following, it would be good to get a couple books for my 9 year old boy to aid in discussions.

@erinbaderin: I just got given a book by my parents as well. No discussions or anything. It makes Me realize just how important the discussions are with them.

@bhbee: I was going to recommend that one! I haven’t had a need for it yet, but know it’s from American Girl, similar to the books they had for girls.

We don’t own it yet but this was recommended to me so I have it saved in my Amazon items for the future. Might be worth checking out reviews to see if it meets what you are looking for.

I have girls, so don’t have anything boy specific to recommend, but my 9 year old likes “Its Perfectly Normal.” We had the earlier ones in the series (It’s Not The Stork and It’s So Amazing) and she wanted to read more about puberty, so I picked up the next one. It’s a good overview, but I have supplemented with some girl specific books.

It sounds like you’re ahead of me on this because you say you’ve talked about it but my parents just left books about puberty and sex in my room without a word and it made me feel like it was something embarrassing that shouldn’t be talked about - I’m assuming you wouldn’t just leave them in there and not say anything about it but just in case.

No recommendations but I’m hoping somebody else has some because I have an 8 year old and I’ll be making notes.

We've talked about body/hormone changes with my 10 year old, but I would like to get some books to just leave in his room that he can read on his own time. Any recommendations?
