Also I try to make it funny. "Vroom! That sounds like a train! Do you think there is a giant train in the bathroom?!" Or something equally as silly. DD was terrified of the sound of not just the dryers but the loud flushing of automatic toilets. That kind of takes the edge off.</p> <p>As he's gotten older, it's become a non issue now. I just let her shake her hands off and wipe on her clothes. She has used a hand dryer a couple of times (quieter ones). We went through a number of outings with my son where he wouldn't poop for hours because he didn't want to sit on a toilet with an automatic flush. He also didn't like the hand dryers for a long time, but at least he was willing to go in the bathroom. I keep a small towel in my bag so she doesn't have to use them. The only think that kind of helps with the noise is to pick a song we are going to sing before we go in and then sing it the whole time we are there.
