@pinkb: It is such a vicious cycle! I feel terrible for her. Miss my happy baby and hoping it passes in a few days. We aren't getting much sleep over here :(

@foodiebee: Oh my goodness our LO's are like twins! Now that you mention it I did get a leap alarm a few days ago warning she was about to go through a stormy period. Love Taking Cara Babies, she is awesome!

@paigeface: I feel like our LOs sometimes mirror one another! My son is 9 weeks and has been drooling like mad and chewing on his hands. (I also noticed a touch of puffiness to his eyes this week, but it was so minor that DH said he barely saw it.) I happened to see a story on teething on Taking Cara Babies' Instagram, and she said that salivary glands are starting to work at this age, so thus, drooling, and discovering hands is normal development, so thus the hand chewing. Maybe she's going through a developmental leap and that's why she's a bit fussier than usual?

I would say it's definitely not teething- she probably discovered her hands and is sucking them a lot. It's common to think any fussiness/ drooling is teething but it's not usually the case. Both my boys did this at 3m but with less fussiness. Everyone said they were teething and neither got teeth til 7m. I bet she's unfortunately having a few random rough days- inexplicably I swear they seem to just be miserable some times for no reason! She's coming out of the "fourth trimester". I bet the puffiness is from crying. I'm sure it will pass.

I would think the puffiness would be from all the crying since that was not normal for her. As for the drooling and gnawing it is normal development at this age and usually not a sign of teething this early. And with her crying so much and fussing at the bottle it can cause more gas causing more fussiness, its a vicious cycle.

Hope she gets back to her happy self soon!

Just went thru this with DD2 who is almost 5 months.

Totally unrelated to a baby so this could have zero correlation...

But as a teenager I woke up one day with very swollen eyelids. Super out of the ordinary with no other symptoms. As soon as the Doctor saw it he said "It's most likely Mono." He was right. So maybe some sort of virus?

Hi guys,
Lots of questions this week since we are going through a real rough one. DD turned 3 months on Monday and every since then she has been super fussy. She has reflux already (mentioned in previous posts) but yesterday had a terrible day and was fussy and crying with my mom all day which is unusual for her usually happy self. It seems like shes going through a growth spurt and possibly teething at the same time? Lots of drool and gnawing at her hands. This morning I noticed her eyelids looked a lot puffier than usual. Her eyes were bright and open and clear but the lids themselves looked puffy. Is this common from the teething and maybe the crying from yesterday? My mom said today she was off and on fussy too. Bottle feeding has been a nightmare and she fidgets and struggles through pretty much every bottle. I am getting a little worried. Any advice? Is this common with growth spurts and teething? I did place a call into the pediatrician for advice as well.
