we got the Finding Nemo tub from BRU for a shower gift. it is flat bottom, so it will rest across our sink or counter, or in the tub! it came with a sling, too, which is cool.

if she gets into an in-between size (too big for sling but too small to sit), I'll lay her on a wash cloth in a little bit of water. I love that it came with a toy bar!

Just get a bath sponge! They're under $10 and you can use them from the very beginning, and even while the baby is learning to sit up because they don't slide around. You just wring it out when you're done, and you can hang it on the shower to dry in between baths. Plus, if it gets nasty (like everything bath-related does!), just toss it and get a new one. And you don't have to store a whole baby bathtub!

We bought a cheap bath seat and used it for the first 2 months or so. Soon after I got lazy and now just lay him on the floor of the tub with his head on a towel and take a shower with him- he loves to splash and splash! So much easier, and much less slippery than when I tried to hold him and shower.

Ok I found a tummy time tub with the fancy pants stool for $20 on craigslist.. so hopefully that will work out for us until I feel comfortable with his head control and just letting him in with me! Thanks everyone!

@prettylizy: We use the whale tub too - it works perfectly for us. We have a guest bathroom, so we just put the baby tub in the big tub, wash her, then sit the tub upright to dry. No mildew problems yet and LO is 4 months old.

We have a PUJ and thought it was great. We don't have a bathtub and our sinks are on the standard to shallow end and it worked. Once he grew out of that we started showering with him and also using a little inflatable kiddie pool as a bathtub. Classy. LOL

We loved our puj tub, but use it rarely now that he prefers showering with me. It was awesome for the first 3 months. I bought ours uses off eBay, though, so we didn't spend a ton.

The Primo infant bath seat worked very well for us in our rectangular kitchen sink, and at $13 it was OK that we only used it as long as she could fit in the sink (about 5 months)!

We loved the Puj tub for use in our kitchen sink. At about 5 months old though we switched to the big bath tub and used a bath pad because my son was just getting too big and then once my son could sit we stopped using anything.

We have this one: http://www.amazon.com/The-First-Years-Infant-Toddler/dp/B000067EH7/ref=sr_1_2?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1347023238&sr=1-2&keywords=infant+bath+tub

It was cheap. We only used the sling for a few weeks. After that, LO had great head control so we could start using the infant side of the tub. We leave it upside down to dry in LO's bathroom. No mildew problems so far.

I have this European Spa Baby tub:
I started with a sling in the kitchen sink, and that was okay, but this Spa Baby thing he LOVES. Makes for some cute photos too. :)
And down the road I feel like it will be a great wastebasket or general bucket.

I really wanted to like the Puj tub, but it was awful for us. It fit okay in our sink, but my baby was able to kick the magnets that hold the thing together apart at 3 weeks old! Ridiculous. Needless to say, we used it once and now it sits a closet. We ended up getting this one http://www.amazon.com/Leachco-Safer-Bather-Infant-Bath/dp/B00005JIVI. It worked well for a while, but now has mildew. Ugh. You wouldn't think the bath tub search would be so hard!

We had the PUJ tub and hated it. I really don't see how it works unless you have really deep sinks. I think we used it 3 times. We were gifted the Summer Infant Right Height Center Tub. I liked it but we only really used the infant seat. I would just put DS on that in the regular bathtub.

We used the PUJ tub until... hmm.. 6 months maybe? Maybe 5? Until Baby X started grabbing at the faucet handles. (Turning the water on himself is a good sign that it's time to on from the PUJ.) He was just on the cusp of sitting up on his own, so we started washing him in the kitchen sink or now, right in the bath tub. My big thing with the PUJ tub is that it doesn't last long if you have a bigger baby-- Baby X is small and that's why it lasted as long as it did. So if you're not comfortable with kitchen sink baths, you're going to have to buy multiple baby baths if you get the PUJ tub. But we were ok with sink baths and now the big bath tub (started that at 7.5 months), so it was fine.

We got a puj off our registry and i was so excited about it but our sinks were too shallow! I think you need a depth of 5-6 inches or so? We tried it a few times but it never really worked so we just got one of the basic blue plastic tubs from the thrift store for like $8 and it has worked well. Where we live is super dry so inever thought about mildew. Unless you are really short on space you might want to get a cheap or used tub and save your money for something that is harder to get a good deal on? Good luck!

Sooo we aren't having any showers and although I've used our Amazon registry as a reminder list I don't really think anyone is buying off of it - they're either buying specific items (crib, stroller) or (presumably) giving us $ if anything else.

SO I'm trying to maximize the Amazon Mom coupon coming up... and I have no clue how to pick a tub.

I have read lots of gross mildewy reviews.. how the heck do I pick one? The PUJ looks like it might be nice.. anyone used one? Other tips?
