@Gigi2: If you plan on charting next time you get AF, I highly recommend FertilityFriend.com and all the resources they have there!

Thanks everyone! I'm so excited. I haven't been charting since I just stopped BCP the other day, but am planning to chart going forward to see how things regularize. Great advice from all of you, thanks. It's so nice to have this site to read as (similar to the other thread from today!) I'm not sharing the ttc news with friends and family. And I don't want my DH to know toooo many details ;)

Good luck! My husband was obsessed with the "pull the goalie" phrase, too! :) In terms of your questions, here goes:

1. I didn't notice any side effects from stopping BCP. Although in the first cycle off of it, I felt all kinds of pregnant symptoms until I realized that this was due to the totally normal increase in progesterone after ovulation. Try not to symptom spot because of this!! You will drive yourself nuts.

2. I ovulated 15 days after stopping the pill. Confirmed by OPKs, O pains, and the trusty migraines I got on ovulation day.

We were planning on waiting 4-5 cycles to regulate my cycles but it turns out that my cycles after BCP were pretty regular (won't be the case with everyone, though). In month 3, my husband convinced me to NTNP that month and that's when I got pregnant. I didn't even suspect that I would be because our timing was not good and I had no symptoms.

I'm there with ya! I took my last pill in November and we're gonna TTC my next cycle, so in Feb.

When it comes to getting off the pill, everyone is different. I'm pretty sure I O'd after my last breakthrough bleed on CD 17 and and have been O'ing consistently around then with pretty regular cycles. For some women, though, their cycles might not get back into a groove for quite a while. Do you chart?

Hi everyone - I've been lurking for a while but this is my first post, because hubby and I just "pulled the goalie" (he loves that phrase) a few days ago! So excited. I've been on BCP for just over a year, after the non-hormonal IUD. I'm prepared it could be a while before my first o... So, in the meantime, I'm wondering three things - (1) did you ladies have any "side effects" or notice any changes when ending birth control? and (2) how long did it take your cycles to kickstart again? and (3) any special tips for how to prepare beyond what I've read in the books?! So excited for this and wishing you all very well on your journeys!
