@Smurfette: agreed.

Anytime LO was mastering a new skill or learning something new, sleep was always a disaster.

Yes, that was an awful little phase. Luckily it didn't last more than a week or two for us! Hang in there!

LO has regressed when he learns any new motor skill. Rolling over, sitting up, pulling up, crawling, standing, walking.... we've in the middle of one now. :( He does this every time, unfortunately.

Currently listening to my baby cry well past his nap time b/c of this stupid problem. We've been teaching him to sit down on his own with a toy but it isn't helping. AHHHHHH

@sslm: yes! The second she stirred even a little bit, she rolled over and popped up. I literally had to hold her down (gently, obviously) with my hand on her back one night to get her fall asleep.
that was probably the worst regression we've had.

Yep. That happened. My LO learned to pull to stand, cruise, and crawl all at the same time, around 11 months - we had a couple of weeks of putting her to bed, her standing up and crying because she couldn't get back down, laying her down and repeat for at least an hour every night and nap. Eventually she abandoned the pulling up trick and went back to normal! It will end!

@rahlyrah: Sending coffee vibes!!

It's reassuring to hear that this is to be expected, which I could have guessed I suppose based on past milestones and sleep. But it always seems like when you're in it you can't imagine it ever ending!!

Time to lower the crib to the lowest setting! It's at second lowest now, but we won't feel right doing any sort of re training until we're sure he cant fling himself out of the crib. We're so responsible. :)

YES. It was awful. She couldn't get back down either so that sucked. It was like she couldn't help but stand up immediately upon waking even a little bit. It took a couple of weeks to work itself out!

yes, it was awful. it took a couple weeks until it improved. we have had to do some minimal re-training, but I did wait at least two weeks I think. We tried to let her CIO one night while she was in that phase and it was terrible. She really couldn't get down. So we mostly waited it out.

@knittylady: YEP! LO was an excellent nighttime sleeper for months, never needed any sleep training, but the minute she was able to pull up on her crib (which coincided with starting to crawl) she became completely impossible to put down to bed. She'd bounce right back up and start screaming for us, and continue on through the night.

After a week, we decided we'd had enough and sleep-trained her, and now a week after that, she's back to sleeping like a champ.

LO has never been a champion napper, but it was relatively easy to put him down for them, and after sleep training at 5 months or so, putting him down at bedtime was a breeze.

Well, this week he has become obsessed with pulling up on everything and it seems to have transfered to when he should be sleeping as well. Every nap he pulls up on his crib and screams, even though he's totally sleepy. I have to let him wear himself out for about 3 minutes and then rock him till he's just falling asleep before I can put him down without him standing back up. It's also happening this way at bedtime. The last two nights he's woken up at 3 and pulled up screaming about every 20 minutes until 530 or 6 when he's up for the day.

Please tell me this will end!!! Or some sort of encouragement!!! Did your LO regress when they learned this new trick?
