When I wanted to drop down to one session at work, I couldn't do it cold turkey because I got engorged too easily, Instead, I pushed that second session later and later in the day by waiting until I was starting to get uncomfortable and then pumping a bit, but not necessarily a full session.

Eventually I didn't need to pump until close to the end of the day, and then I just waited until I got home knowing I would nurse when I got there. Then I moved my one remaining session closer and closer to the middle of the day.

I totally stressed over my "plan" to stop pumping as well and in the end abandoned it...once I got to every 24 hours I just tried to see if I could make it longer the next day without wanting to die - so 30, 36 hours, 40 hours, whatever. After less than a week of doing that that I found I could totally stop. Hang in there!

@MrsLonghorn: so I dropped down to one last week, earlier than planned because it was taking me almost 45 minutes to get 1-2 ounces for my first session. The first few days was totally fine! Then she got sick on Sunday and this week I've been feeling tingly engorged by 10am. Which was my morning pump time before. I'm guessing I definitely need at least another week, huh?

@regberadaisy: how has it been dropping pumps up until now? I EP'd and found that it took 3-4 days for me not to be engorged after I dropped a pumping session.
Once I stabilized a bit, I started reducing my pump time. Then, once I was down to <6oz for the day, I stopped pumping all together.
I had to pump 48 hours later because I felt a small lump, and then I was able to hand express a tiny bit. It took 2 weeks for me to feel confident that everything was officially done.

I'm in the process of weaning off the pump and this week I went down to one session. I am engorged by lunchtime (when I pump). I think part of the problem is she isn't nursing very well in the morning. Stuffy nose combined with distracted and wanting to go to daddy and play with her sister. So she's not emptying.
My plan was to pump once a day for a week then be done by Friday.

Should I pump for another week at once a day? I'm afraid I won't be able to go all day, just yet, without pumping and not being painfully engorged by the end of the day!

With my first my pump supply dropped to nothing so it was no big deal to drop!
