I normally pump and hour or so before I go to sleep. Every once in a while I will skip it, but tend to regret it because I wind up leaking everywhere by the morning.

If you don't need a huge stash (like you aren't going back to work in a couple months or something), I personally would try to drop the pump session. I never pumped on a regular basis, but on the one off times I pumped an hour or two after the morning session, I usually got three ounces (plus or minus an ounce). I just would rather not deal wth that on vacation if you don't have to!

As for dropping it- when C started dropping overnight feeds I just dealt with the engorgement (use nursing pads!) but I'm sure decreasing the length of time you pump could ease that?

When you're traveling, are you somewhere where you are able to sit down and pump at night and not disturb LO?

I'm not sure exactly when supply regulates, your supply could've already regulated (I think it's pretty much around 3-4 months), and if it is then I would say it's okay to skip and not affect your supply, but agree w/ THOU that it might take a while to get that 4-6 oz a night again after. Then again, if you already have a huge stash maybe you don't need it!

As for the engorgement part, I've read that some moms just grin and bear it for a few days and it will pass when your body realize you don't need that much milk overnight.

Do you want to drop the pumping? Or only for a bit while you're traveling?

Supply could come back but it would be tough to work back after a month without that "demand".

If you want to wean that pumping all together I would slowly decrease the amount of time pumping slowly.

LO is 3.5m and breastfed only and wakes up once in the night to nurse. I pump once a day after he goes to sleep to have some extra in the freezer. It's taken a while but now I get between 4 - 6 oz a night which feels good. I use the milk rarely and am not totally sure why I have such a big collection, but it feels good to have.

We are about to travel for a month and I am wondering if I can ween myself off the evening pumping for the trip. I rather not pump on the go, but I worry about getting that output back if I stop.

So I guess my question is, if I stop pumping in the evening will I be able to start pumping again after a month and still get anything? Will it take a long time to work back up to 4oz?

Also, if I skip pumping now my boobs are KILLING me before LO wakes up for his 4am (sometimes 2am) feeding. So I can't just drop it. How should I go about dropping this pumping?
