@kitty: Yes, that sounds great! Definitely get a hands free pumping bra, the simple wishes one are the best. I didn't get one until I went back to work and it has made pumping so much less awkward for me. I wish I had gotten one way sooner.

3 oz is great. What I get depends on the time of day. Now that I'm not pumping daily, I get about 6pz the few times a week I pump in the mornings.

@Astro Bee: thanks for the point about pumping when he takes a bottle, not sure I would have remembered that.

@chicalgobee: I have a double as well but I wanted to practice with just one at a time before juggling both. Maybe I need the handsfree bra! It's good to hear that pumping some has worked out so well for you, fingers crossed it does for us too!

@daniellemybelle @simplyfelicity @buttermilk @kemma @adira @alivoo01 thanks for the feedback! I feel very reassured ☺

I think that's a great amount given you just nursed!

I usually got about 0.5 oz per side (so 1 oz total) after nursing. Except after the first morning session - then I would get more.

I only get 0.5-1 oz total for both sides when i pump after a feed so you're doing great! I have a low supply it seems.

I started by pumping after the first morning feeding, as that's when I had the most milk. Early on what I got would vary (4-6 I believe?), but 3 ounces sounds great after your baby has already eaten! I have a double pump and do about 10 minutes total, which for me is pretty average even at this point (10.5 months PP). I highly recommend you keep up pumping once a day if you want to build up a freezer stash, and also to get your son used to a bottle. I am so glad I pumped this whole time, as my son has taken bottles from anyone who has cared for him, and I've been able to work, exercise, have dates with my husband, etc. Best wishes as you start your pumping journey!

That's great!!

I pump once daily after our first morning feed and get about 8 ounces. It's going straight to the freezer!

3 oz total or 1.5 total?

1.5 total is good and probably average after nursing. 3 oz is a lot!

I don't pump regularly, and EBF, but I get between 1.5 oz and 2.5 oz from both breasts if I pump within a couple of hours of a feeding. I have gotten up to 4 oz if it's been longer, but that's been only a couple of times. I pump before I go to bed or after the first morning feed, with the intention of having a small freezer stash for DH to watch LO if I need/want to go out by myself. We don't feel comfortable with the ILs watching LO, and my parents live too far away.

From what I understand, the more you pump, the more you will produce; the same as for feeding directly from the breast. And if your DH feeds your LO the pumped milk, you should pump for that session, too. Especially since your supply is still regulating. Good luck with your pumping.

I just had my first ever pumping session, at 5.5 weeks pp. I pumped straight after feeding DS and got 1.5oz from each side, pumping about 12 mins each.

Is this a good amount? How much do you ladies get if you pump right after a feed? I probably could have gone for longer but I'm trying to ease into it and make it as stress free as possible.

At the moment I'm pumping with the intention of DH giving him EBM once a day, and providing the option of leaving DS with my MIL from time to time so we can have date nights and such. I'm open to any tips from anyone else who has pumped in a similar way!
