I went back to work when she was 7 months. She took about 12-16 ounces a day. I pumped 3 times at work and had to user stash to make up the difference. I was lucky if I got 15 ounces pumped. I rarely pumped at home though

My LO is 7.5 months and she is taking between 10-15 oz per day and eating quite a bit of solids (we are doing BLW, she has been eating solids since 4.5 months). My typical schedule is:

5am-nurse
6:30am-pump at home
8am-solids for breakfast at daycare
9:30-5 oz bottle
11:00am-pump at work
11:30-solids for lunch at daycare
2:30-5 oz bottle
4pm-pump and work and LO has snack at daycare
(sometimes she has the third bottle between 4:30-5:30)
6:00pm-solids for dinner
7:30pm-nurse
10pm-pump

Like others have said, it totally depends on your baby and the first couple weeks will probably be a learning period!

@Adira: I have about 8 oz in the freezer, but I am going to start pumping a few times a day before I start work so I have a little bit extra. The bottle boot camp idea is great.

@lawbee11: good to know I'm not the only one gone so long

@jetsa: I forgot about checking Kellymom. So 11-17 oz per day...

@OldEnglandMama: LO is in the 95th percentiles, so she may eat a ton too! I guess we will find out.

@catlady: did you start out on the higher end of what you thought?

My baby just turned 8 months and she is at daycare from about 8:30 to 5:30 each day. I send in 14 oz total (3 bottles of 4 oz, and 1 bottle of 2 oz as "extra"). She usually takes 3 bottles but has recently needed the extra bottle more often. She usually nurses once before daycare, 1-2x in the evening, and once overnight.

I pump 3x at work and I get anywhere from 10oz to 16oz total. I have not needed to supplement so far, although I may need to soon (or add an extra pumping session at home).

When we first started, I just sent in what I thought would work and then gradually tweaked both the amount per bottle and the number of bottles based on feedback from the daycare teachers. Or as Adira mentioned, doing a test run would probably be super helpful!

It really depends on the baby I think. Our LO eats 3-4 4oz bottles during an 8 hour day at day care - he's 3.5 months old. I nurse him right before we go, and as soon as we get home. I pump twice at work and get about 20 oz on average per day. So currently, we're freezing more than he consumes in a day. I assume his consumption will increase as he gets older.

(I should add he's at or above the 97th percentile for height and weight so I guess that takes lots of calories!!)

In case a schedule would be helpful, this was us:

5:30 - nurse
6:00 - pump
6:30 - leave for work
9:00 - Xander got a 5 oz bottle
11:00 - pump
12:00 - Xander got a 5 oz bottle
3:00 - pump and Xander got a 5 oz bottle
5:30 - nurse
6:00 - pump if I needed more

@mrs.shinerbock: We have similar schedules. LO has pretty much always taken the same amount of BM (around 13-14 oz while I'm gone). I nurse her between 4-6, then DH gives her a 3-4 oz bottle when she wakes up (around 8/8:15). Then she gets 2 5oz bottles at daycare--one around 11:30 and one around 2:30. Then I nurse her as soon as we get home. Congrats on the job offer!

ETA: I pump before leaving for work (she nurses on one side between 4-6am and I pump the other side), then twice at work (once at 10:30 and once at 2).

Kellymom says an ounce-ounce and half per hour but it really just depends on the baby. This will just be trial and error most likely

Do you have any expressed milk already? If you do, I'd suggest doing a bottle bootcamp before going back to work. I wasn't sure of any of this when I returned to work, so the weekend before, I had Hubs feed Xander bottles while I pumped so that I would get an idea of how much he needed and how much I needed to pump to get that much!

I think around 7 months, Xander was taking three 5oz bottles during the day (between 7:30 and 5:00) and I was pumping 3-4 times to get that much. I was also nursing in the morning before work and in the evenings as well.

I just got a job offer and am going back to work in a little over a week (eek!) and need to figure out how to feed LO while she is with the nanny/daycare. I have no idea how much she eats/needs.

LO is 7.5 months and has been mostly EBF on demand. She eats every 3-4 hours during the day. On the rare occasion that DH gives her a bottle, she takes it easily, but eats anywhere between 2-5 oz and it typically takes me 2 pumping sessions (after feeding LO) to get 4-5 oz. I usually feed her when she wakes up between 4-6 am, and I will be gone from 6:30 to 5:15 every day, so 3-4 feedings per day? We also do solids twice per day.

I know I will probably get more from a pumping session if I don't feed her immediately before, but how much do I need? How much did/does your 7 month old eat and how many pumping sessions did you need to get that?
