I pump the most in the morning session - I can pump about 8-10 ounces around 9 am, but the next 2 sessions (12 pm and 3 pm) I can barely eke out 4 ounces total each session.

I average about 16-18 ounces in a workday if I pump 3x/day.

@autumnlove: Soooooo glad to hear it!!! It's always encouraging to get a decent session in because then you can be like "Phew! I CAN pump at work and get milk out!" which makes the next session feel less stressful and even more productive! I hope you're able to get enough for the day!! <3

@JoJoGirl: I pump both sides for like 10 mins, then do one side at a time for about 5 mins so I can do the massaging. I don't have a hands free bra that works.

@autumnlove: Definitely try to tune your coworkers out if you can! I feel like my first day back, I didn't produce a great amount (I had also forgotten my pumping bra, so I just had to sit there holding the flanges and couldn't read my book, which SUCKED). I think once you have a successful pump session at work, you'll feel less concerned about it and then all the rest will go more smoothly!

@autumnlove: When you pumped earlier, were you successful?

When this happens to me (pumping and get nothing), I usually add a pumping session into my day before my next scheduled session to essentially "try again." Then I try to RELAX and massage and not pay attention. It's worked for me in the past! I would go try again if you can and just try to chill this time! *hug* <3

12-15 ounces depending on the day. I wish I could pump more but it covers what LO drinks at daycare, so I'm happy with that!

@Adira: I pumped 3.5 hours before and got a good amount. I was definitely staring down at the bottles so maybe I need to chill out at the next session and try massage.

I've been using the same pump for a few months! I think going back to work is throwing me off.

@JoJoGirl: I have my bra on really tight, and then massage through the bra. Not as efficient as I'd like, but it tends to help, and it doesn't move them around too much.

Aww, sorry to hear you didn't get much out! How long has it been since your breasts were last emptied? Do they feel full? Have you tried hand expressing at all to see if you can get some out that way? Have you used this pump before and know it works?

I know when I'm stressed or focusing on how much I'm pumping, I get NOTHING out. I have to totally relax and not pay attention to it. I bring a book and read that while I'm pumping. Also, I have to massage one boob (just the low producing one, haha) while I pump. Have you tried massaging at all?

I didn't think I did, but reading these responses, I guess I'm lucky! I get 7-9 oz during the day at work, and 6 in my morning pump. It's enough to cover daycare, luckily.

But last week, my first week back, I was so stressed that I barely got anything. Definitely look at pictures and try to take a break while you are pumping!

Depends on the day and time of day. Mornings I can get 6-10ozs, depending on when she nursed last. By the end of the day, 4ozs. Fridays are less than Mondays.

@pregnantbee: I did this too! Hearing her little grunts and sucking sounds helped a lot at first. I also took an unwashed (but not gross) onesie with her smell on it in a baggie that I would pretty much huff on :)

I have been lucky in being able to produce more than LO needed since beginning to pump. I had practiced using mine at home a few times though so I knew the fit was right and my personal timing needs (I usually pump closer to 30 minutes so I catch a second let down). Now at 10 months, I pump 2x a day and just cover what she takes in bottles at daycare. Occasionally I'll get an ounce or two extra to add to her stash but it's rare.

@autumnlove: Awww. Yes, in the beginning I really had to concentrate on photos and videos of my LO to help me out. Also be sure that the flanges are a good fit and that the membranes aren't torn or anything. And massage while pumping, too. As hard as it is, try your best to relax. Hang in there.

ETA: one thing I did was take selfie video of LO nursing. Then I watched the videos while pumping.

awww!.... i know in the beginning months of pumping at work, i was producing 18 oz+ between 3 sessions.... i had really weak sessions when AF came back at 4.5 months and i struggled with it a few weeks... got my supply back up and plateaued at 13-15 oz between months 5-8.

Now at 9.5 months I pump 2x and end up with 8-10 oz depending on the day.
