I was an EP for 13 months. Start at the hospital with their pumps, put yourself on a 2-3 hour schedule and stick to it. I rented a hospital pump for 6 months before downgrading to a regular electric pump. After 2 months I dropped to 7 sessions/day, at 4 months, 6 sessions. By the end, I only pumped twice a day. It's doable, but you have to stick with it, especially during the overnight hours.

I BF, but I would imagine they would have you start pumping in the hospital to stimulate your supply. and they should have a pump available for you to use. I would also guess that you would still pump every 2-3 hours just like you would if you were breastfeeding. Since supply is all about supply and demand you would want to keep it as close to BFing as you can. What kind of pump are you planning on using (if you don't mind me asking), I think renting a hospital grade one until your milk supply is established might be helpful. Good luck!

For the 1st few week or two I mostly just pumped. I didnt pump at the hospital, I nursed her for 15 minutes before feeding her formula, so it was about every 2.5 hours. When I came home I pumped every 2 hours but didnt pump at night, but I wasnt getting enough milk when I pumped and I got fed up of constantly washing the pump so I started breastfeeding her and my supply really went up to the point that I was able to breastfeed exclusively

I am planning to exclusively breastfeed my LO and have a few questions for mothers who did the same.

What did you do after LO was born? Did you pump at the hospital?

What was your schedule? How often did you pump?

Any additional information or tips would be greatly appreciated!!!
