I have my own office at work and purchased a curtain for my window that looks into a common area. There was a staff once that tried to peek in through a crack between the curtain. I found out afterwards, and thankfully someone scolded him. He was later fired, thankfully.

We have a pumping room at work that I believe has a lock on the door, even if it doesn't when it is closed no one else bothers it. It's attached to the Women's restroom so we don't have to worry about men! The usually aren't more than 1 or 2 women pumping in our building at the same time so that is nice.

I was totally walked in on at work a couple months back. I forgot to lock my office door but honestly no one really comes in when it's closed. Or so I thought! I don't think he saw much, but that was certainly freaky.

We have a closet with a lock and a sign. It's barely enough to fit a chair in there, but at least it's something private.

I would have been mortified if a guy walked in on me! I'm surprised he didn't hear the pump from outside the door.

That sucks. I did pump at work and when I pumped, I had a private office with door locks. I don't know what I would do if I got barged in. I would work on getting a lock put on that door. An apology isn't good enough. Legally it just has to be free from intrusion of co-workers if they have employees under FLSA. If you have been intruded upon, it isn't free from intrusion. I am not a lawyer but I have looked into the laws for myself.

@LivsMama: we have about 44 employees and only 2 are female! He sent me an email apology and I replied and told him not to worry about it. He is a new dad as well and I know he didn't do it on purpose! I don't want to rock the boat and demand a locked room because I start working 3 days from home next week!

No, but I would be beyond mortified! We have a lactation room with a weekly calendar/schedule so we're aware of when others are in the room and an OCCUPIED sign on the door and it locks. However, at home, my MIL walked in on me pumping once - embarrassing!

It never happened to me but I was able to pump in my private office. Granted, I don't even have a handle on my door (it slides) let alone a lock but as long as my door was shut and my blinds into the office were closed, no one bothered me.

no, but Ive walked in on somebody else. We have a designated room with a key, but I didnt know she was in there. I was mortified, so I can only imagine how that guy feels lol. How big is your company? They might be required to provide you with a provate, locked area to pump. I think if its over 60 employees they are required. And now that its happened, you have an argument to HR to say you want a locked area.

We don't have a designated lactation room so I use a small conference room for pumping. The door doesn't lock so I put a Occupied sign on the door and also put a chair behind the door. Despite this, a male coworker (luckily, not our office creep)barged in today when I was pumping. He only saw me for a few seconds so it wasn't a big deal! HR was quick to apologize, etc.

Has anyone ever walked in on you?
