@yellowbird: The same thing happened on Friday to me. I send four 5 oz bottles and they wrote that he drank three of them....but the fourth was empty? I forgot to ask about it.

Apparently my LO went through 24 Oz of milk at daycare yesterday. They only write down 14 is of it though, so I'm not sure if they spilt it or what happened!

I pack 4 5oz bottles for her and left 2 frozen 4 oz packs and one was used yesterday. I definitely can't keep up if that keeps happening!

I only pump 12oz total all day (3 sessions of about 4oz each) so I am jealous of your 10oz morning session. However, right now I'm able to keep up with DS so while I'm content I would love to pump more for my freezer.

Yep I always pumped a TON in the morning and then less as the day went on.

I have heard that the milk becomes more nutrient dense as the day goes on, so you produce less later in the day than you do in the mornings.

Thanks ladies!! I am thankful I get 10oz in the morning. Apparently she ate 17 ounces yesterday at daycare. I'm barely keeping up with her during the day, but she sleeps through the night and I pump one time at 3 or 4 am and get some extra.

Very typical! Try to relax at the end of the day, eat a snack and drink some water before you pump to also help!

I had a similar experience. Each pump would get successively less during the work day. Also, LO loved to just be attached to me and nurse after work until bed time. I think he was tanking up for a longer stretch of sleep. It made for stressful evenings, but it eventually got better!

I think this is pretty typical. The morning is the best session and then it goes down. I wish I got 10 oz!

Wow, can I just say I'm so jealous of your 10oz in the morning!! :) I find I get the most in the AM and it goes down as the day goes on.

This is typical for most pumping moms, I think-- you pump the most in the mornings (when you're most rested) and as the day goes on, your production goes down.

As for your LO nursing every hour, she could be reverse cycling (eating only the bare minimum during the day so she can nurse with you when you get back) or she might just miss you! Or she might be going thru a growth spurt... they tend to eat super often then.

I'm exactly the same. I've read it's normal for your supply to decrease during the day. I don't worry about it, LO is growing and thriving and I am able to make more than enough to cover her bottles while she is at daycare.

I pump while I'm at work and I'm gone ~ 10hours M-Th. I usually pump 3 times a day. My schedule is something like this:

6:30am- nurse
9:00: pump I get around 9-10 Oz
12 or 12:45 pump: I get 5-6 oz
3:00 or 3:45 pump- 3-4 oz

Why am I making less and less milk as the day goes on? Also when I get home DD eats almost every hour. Is it because I'm empty?? What's going on here?
