@Adira: Yeah, that's always been my approach - I usually try to pretty much make sure I'm on top of my output week to week, so maybe a few extra evening pumps and a few on the weekends before and after will be enough to keep my supply safe. Thanks!

@purrpletulips: Good to know. I'd at least get a days worth out of this pump then if it worked as well as the Ameda, although I'd be pumping one side at a time.

@Revel: I was able to run my Ameda off of batteries for about 3 pumps before I noticed a difference in performance.

@Revel: I think the best way to make sure you keep your supply up is to pump pump pump what you need for the next day. Even if that means pumping three times after you get home from work or something - if you never dip into your freezer stash, I think your supply will be guaranteed to recover.

@purrpletulips: Oh good idea. I've never even used it - it was a hand me down, so I'd have to test it out first. I would imagine a pump drains batteries pretty quickly.

@beaker: @Adira: I will plan on extending the morning pump for sure and maybe adding an evening pump in to get me up to at least three good sessions. I have plenty of milk in the freezer to cover me if I'm short some ounces on these days, so I'm mostly concerned with supply, although I'd like to be able to bring home some from the work day.

@Alivoo01: Thanks for sharing your experience! This is my first trial, so I don't know what to expect either. I am assisting a partner with the case so I'm not sure how tough it will be to sneak away a few times a day.

@purrpletulips: That's a good idea - adding one at the end of the day will probably work because we will likely go back to the office before I go home.

@evansjamie: Also a good idea! I have some more milk plus that I always forget to take so maybe I will try to take that every day too.

I have medela battery powered single pump that I've never used, I wonder if it's worth bringing that in case I can't reach an outlet with the bigger pump in a bathroom? Or just bring the single battery medela and skip the big double electric entirely?

I would suggest adding pumping in the evening to make up for it! Or maybe even get up earlier in the morning to do a good pumping session in the morning. I only pump twice at work usually, but I pump before work and sometimes have to pump twice in the evening to have enough.

I would try extending the quickie sessions if possible for those days. Its worth calling and asking if they have a mothers room!

Maybe try some lactation cookies to keep your supply up? I'm not pumping regularly yet, but that's something a friend suggested to me.

I don't think your supply will take a hit because I was home with a sick baby last week and he never emptied out my boobs. He ate just enough to relieve me of engorgement/discomfort. I also only pumped twice a day. I'm back at work this week, and am pumping out the same amount I was previously so yay!!

Can you pump (or maybe quickly hand express) during lunch or during a recess? I'm not familiar with how things go at trials so sorry!

I have a trial next week and am looking at up to four days of difficult pumping. I'm not even sure what, if any, set up there is in the building with the courtroom. I guess I need to look into it.

I'm hoping to be able to pump 2x during the work day if possible. My supply is not low, but it typically is just enough. My usual pump schedule is a mini pump in the morning before I leave (like 5 mins ish depending on baby), then pump at work at 10a, 12:30p, 3p, and then pump before bed. The pumps at home will be fine next week, but I'm not sure I'll get even two quality pumps in on these trial days.

Any thoughts? Will my supply take a hit if I have four bad pumping days?
