I had to once. I just asked a flight attendant and they let me sit in a "jump seat" sort of in their space. I'm sure too that you might be able to find a row that didn't have anyone it and just use a cover and a hands free bra.

If it's a long enough flight - the ones where even the crew gets a break at night - ask the flight attendant if they have a private area you can use. I know sometimes the have a few seats reserved for them and often there is a curtain that pulls around to hide their seats for privacy. Maybe you can borrow that space to pump.

Yikes! Never had to do that, but I would be so self-conscious of the sound. Would a hand-pump under a cover be an option or too much of a pain?

I have a couple times, in my seat under a cover. I was on my own both times, so there was a stranger next to me (men both times I think!). I made sure to get a window seat, angled so I was facing the window, and waited until my neighbors were asleep or distracted before pumping. But honestly it wasn't terrible. The plane drowned out most of the noise of the pump, the cover worked well, and no one cared at all. You'll be fine!

I pumped on a flight recently, but my husband was in the seat next to me. I wouldn't do it with a stranger next to me, it's just too weird (I pump with a double electric and there's a lot involved in getting my shirt pulled up and everything in place so I just wouldn't be able to do it with someone else there, esp not a man).

I'd never be able to get the setup right in my seat! When I used to do it in the car it seemed to take forever and there I had a bit more privacy. Anyway I've never pumped in a plane, just airport bathrooms....

I would just do it in your seat, maybe with a cover if you're uncomfortable. Those bathrooms are so small and annoying! Just sit back and watch a movie or something instead, you'll be way more comfortable!

Who has pumped on an airplane? What was your experience? Did you pump in your seat (using a cover)? Did you pump in the bathroom? I am not at all timid about breast feeding in public (i don't use a cover), but I am a bit uncomfortable at the prospect of pumping in public. I am much more inclined to pump in my seat than the bathroom though...
Thoughts??
