I always mix both sides together. I only pump maybe 5-10 minutes because that's when my milk stops, if I continue I get pretty sore. I usually get 4oz total in the 5 minutes, if it was a missed feeding, if I pump before I go to bed (she last ate 1-2.5 hours before) I'll only get about 2oz total. I don't pump often though.

As long as the milk in both bottles is the same temp, mixing is okay (just don't mix freshly pumped with refrigerated - the fresh stuff needs to be chilled).
In a few weeks, you'll probably notice increased production (especially if you pump until empty). I found that if I went back and stimulated to get more, my nipples became very unhappy with me (although, I was exclusively pumping).

I pump for 20-25min each time (last 5 min are usually just for stimulation). I mix the milk from a session without ill effects.

mixing both sides is fine. In the beginning I pumped 5-7 minutes total, now I pump about 8-9 minutes.

I mixed milk all the time, sometimes I would even mix milk that was made a few days later, as long as they were both refrigerated. I would pump for 5 minutes after nothing else was coming out to see if I could stimulate a 2nd letdown, but nothing else after that.

I always mixed what I pumped from each session into 1 bottle. (Not from different pumping sessions though unless they were both the same temperature and from the same day.) I just pumped until I had no drops or just a couple of drops coming out-- usually about 20 minutes. 4.5oz isn't bad, especially depending on how long it had been since your last feeding.

In the early weeks I'd pump for about 20 min or until nothing else was coming out. Nowadays I hate waiting so I only pump for about 10 min or so.

I always mix both sides together as well. I generally pump until the flow has nearly stopped and only drops are coming out for at least 1-2 minutes which is usually around minute 15. Sometimes if I have time, I will try for a second letdown which usually happens around minute 18-20. If that happens, I will pump for 25-30 minutes.

I always mix them together. I generally pump for 10 mins but am doing 15 at the mo since my supply has taken a hit.

I finally broke out the pump tonight for the first time- my son is now almost 5 weeks old. After cleaning all the parts per the instructions, I dove right in and gave it a shot. I was able to pump about 2.5 oz on the right and just under 2 on the left.

We decided to use that milk to do the bedtime feeding to see if he would accept it and I poured both bottles together- he wound up taking about 2.5 oz easily and then got very upset so we stopped.

What I am wondering mostly is, is it ok that I mixed the two bottles together? I assume it is but I am concerned about any kind of contamination, even though all of the parts were boiled before use. Also, about how long do you pump, per session? I pumped until I was not making any more milk but I am curious if I should have gone back to the stimulation phase to try for more?

All in all, I didn't mind the pumping so much! Hopefully it will be an easy adjustment for us.
