I pump in the morning after I feed her, on the side she didn't eat. It usually works out well cause she'll wake up at 5-6 and go back down til 7:30 or so, so I pump before she gets up again. I can usually get 4-6oz on one side then which has helped build my stash. Now we are into solids though and I find I'm going through my stash quicker since I'm mixing in BM. I'll be following this thread to see when else I should pump. I can't get much in the evenings cause she eats so much then.

I always pumped in the morning before she woke up to get the most. After 3 month mark it was hard to beat her waking up. Pumping right after will give you more fatty milk but less volume.....milk many months down the line will be more nutritious than earlier milk, but breastmilk is breastmilk and it's not worth worrying about too much, especially if it's such a short stint you're planning for.

I would recommend a stash of a week's worth in case you ever get sick and need to take antibiotics that require pumping and dumping

Thank you ladies! I think I will start with double pumping about an hour after he feeds.

For about the first 8 months or so I would nurse her on one side in the morning and pump the other side. Helped me to build a very decent freezer stash.

I would either pump on the side he did not feed on once or twice a day, or if he has a longer stretch of sleep at the beginning of the night, I would double pump after he goes to bed.

I started building my stash by double-pumping roughly an hour after feeding Xander (that's an hour after the START of him nursing, which sometimes took up to an hour)! But Xander also usually fed off both sides, so I'm not positive if you should do something different if your LO only eats from one side normally.

ETA: I should add, I only pumped during the day. He clusterfed in the evenings and when I would pump after he ate, I didn't have enough milk for his next feed and he would be super fussy, so I didn't pump in the evenings.

Following...I've been pumping on both sides once a night after LO goes to bed but I'd like to build a better stash as we bottle feed every other day to keep her used to it & my mom Kronos her once a month....I'd like an emergency stash!!

Just picked up my loaner pump from public health!
I am EBF my son (almost 11 weeks) but need to start building up a freezer stash. I need to have enough stash for an evening in march (going to a supper with my oldest girl), a day of feeding in May (going to a stagette) and a day in July (I am a bridesmaid). I also want to start giving him a bottle every second evening. That way he will get use to using a bottle.
So how to I fit pumping in? Do I use the double pump and use it right after he feeds? Or do I just pump the side he doesn't feed on? Or should I space it out and double pump half way between his feeds?

Thank you!
