@Phillybaby2013: that's awesome! I only pump once a week but get excited when my output is higher than normal. My husband thinks I look hilarious when I pump and loves to see how much I got.. it's weirdly satisfying :)

Thanks guys! Who knew breastmilk could be so exciting. Haha.

@JessiBee: it is intimidating for sure! The flange fit was a huge thing for me to figure out. I got the Medela Freestyle from a friend who only used it a handful of times so I had to buy new flanges. I started with 27mm since that was the only size I could buy at a store. I had no idea what I was doing but I was literally getting drips so i figured something wasn't right. Also a higher setting doesn't mean better suck. Who knew? I had mine turned all the way up and got nothing. Level 5 seems to work for me. Good luck and just practice till you figure out what works for you!

You're ahead of me! I am planning to unpack and try out my pump this weekend. At the moment, the box intimidates me. Any suggestions? Well done @Phillybaby2013!

So I've been testing the pumping waters this week and finally feel like I may have it semi-figured out! I ended up going through 3 different size flanges and settled on 21mm. I've only practiced single pumping so far but I rigged up my hair ties today for some double action. I got 3 ounces! Considering I was barely covering the bottom of the bottle last week I am super excited! I'm hoping I can keep it up. Just wanted to share. :)
