@septemberlove: Ugh, yes, he could definitely be going through a growth spurt at 3 months. I would just keep trying to pump after you feed him, if only for 5-10 minutes. And maybe if he'll do any long stretches at night, pump during that time!

I pumped earlier today and got an ounce but then LO decided he wanted to eat nonstop. He's 3 months on Sunday and I think this could be a growth spurt :-/ lovely timing.

I just pumped willy-nilly while on leave and then I had enough milk to do a bottle boot camp like @Smurfette the weekend before I went to work.

I would definitely try pumping after every feeding. And what's his night-time sleep like? If he has a decent stretch of sleep, you could always get up in the middle of it to pump. Not ideal, but will probably get you enough for that first day back if you do it over the weekend!

I pumped when DS was about 2 weeks old... I only pumped once a day right after the morning nursing session throughout my entire maternity leave and built up a pretty good stash.

Can you pump on the side he isn't eating on? That's what I do when I need milk- I get so much more

I just pumped when I could while on leave. Then the weekend before I pumped to give her bottles since we were having Bottle Boot Camp to get her use to them. So that gave me a extra so I didn't have to take out a ton of the freezer for the 1st day.

LO is 17 days old and I started pumping when she was 6 days old. I go back in September but I'm a teacher so I don't know if my breaks will be conducive to pumping.

I probably should've started thinking about this a few days sooner! I go back Monday and have no freezer stash, oops. I've just been so thrilled to be nursing and not pumping that I just didn't even think about it...

LO usually just takes one side at a feeding so I'm going to pump after he's done and see where we end up. I'm not opposed to supplementing with formula in a situation like this but I hope I'll be able to pump enough for him to have primarily breastmilk.

When did you start pumping to get ready to go back to work?
