I pumped 3 times after she went to sleep...once around 9 or 10, 12 or 1, and 3 or 4 but I was trying to build my stash.

I pump right before I go to bed and then sleep until everyone wakes up the next morning. You are pretty engorged and leaky for a few days but like everyone said, your body adjusts pretty quickly.

As a working mom, I find that last pumping session to be my saving grace, even though it can be a royal PITA. It was key to building up my freezer stash and gives me peace of mind if I can't pump enough to "cover" what LO ate that day.

At first I was waking up a few hours before LO in pain I was so engorged, so I would pump then. I gradually started pumping less though - just enough to relieve the pain so that I would be able to eventually sleep through the same schedule.

@Tidybee: It definitely evens out at least somewhat, because I used to be in intense pain if LO went longer than 4 hours without eating...now I still get engorged at night but usually it's after 6-7 hours and it's not nearly as painful. I think it's hard because my LO will go 6-7 hours one night, and then 4 hours the next, so it hasn't been completely consistent enough for my body to say, okay he's only eating every x hours. But once that happens I think my supply will continue to regulate, as will yours! :)

And you'll also get to a point where you don't feel as "full" before feedings, this doesn't mean you don't have any milk (usually!) but rather your supply has just evened out :) I'm 11 weeks pp and very rarely feel engorged anymore and my supply is fine.

@Tidybee: yes it'll usually even out. I woke up in so much pain the first few nights but now I only get that engorged if she sleeps 8+ hours..which she doesn't really, lol.

@JessLC: You read my mind!
@pelikila: That's what I'm afraid of with me...
LO is sleeping 6-7 hours each night, but eating every 3 hours during the day, so my boobs are so sore and full during the night that even though LO is sleeping, I'm not! Will it even out eventually if we don't pump?

Same as others - engorgement went away after a few days. I only pumped once before bed because I was full again an she was already asleep.

I would only pump if you're trying to buil supply or build a stash. Otherwise, your body will continue to make that amount of milk because it thinks it needs to.

Nope, if you keep pumping your body won't adjust to not producing that extra milk. I had a few nights of feeling really engorged but then my body adapted. My LC told me to try to get through it but if the engorgement was too uncomfortable just pump for a minute or two to release some of the pressure.
