I steamed all veggies and some hard fruits (like apples and pears). Bananas and avocado you can just smash since it's soft already. I used the Beaba Babycook and it liked it alot. The only problem was that it's really small so after the initial first food stage, we just used a traditional steamer basket and full-sized blender to make large batches and freeze. I loved the silicone Beaba freezer trays though. I bought 4 of them and used them religiously!

There are foods you don't have to cook like banana and avocado. Most other foods I did steam and then puree. Frozen foods are totally fine. Peas are a good place to start!

I love Wholesome baby! I always steam/bake before making my LO's food. She's such a picky little eater though, I stopped making food for her for the time being.
If you start with rice cereal, make sure to mix it with your breastmilk. Otherwise it'll taste blah for your LO. You could skip the cereal and start giving her veggies. I gave my LO a taste of food at 4 months and she didn't like it. She started eating at 6 months, at almost 9 months she still doesn't eat very much/day. It's mostly breastmilk for her.
**edit! yes! you don't have to cook bananas and avocados! I' try staying away from bananas since they make my LO constipated.

I forget who but someone on hellobee showed me this link and it's great http://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/ for baby foods. We started LO out with just small tastes of stuff we could just smush with our fork or between our fingers. She liked tasting new stuff but was done after a couple licks.

Depending on the food you can steam or roast (like sweet potato) and you can use frozen.

certain fruits like bananas can be pureed raw but most veggies need to be Steamed (or even boiledin a little bit of water and then using the stock to make the puree less thick)

My little one turns 4 months on the 1st and I am thinking of baby food for her. We will start with rice cereal but I know we are getting a baby bullet, so I'm trying to figure how to make the food.

I know, put it in, blend, but do you steam veggies 1st? Does it always need to be fresh from the garden/farmer's market or can I use frozen ones that I steam?

Never knew so much thought went into making your own baby food.LOL
