We got the Beaba BabyCook and I used the puree function exactly one time. Liv would NOT eat purees. So we went straight to baby-led weaning. I use it daily now for the steam function for her veggies, but thats it

@Mrsbells: oh ps, we actually got a ninja for our shower too and we use it nearly everyday for non-baby cooking! We love it. that's another option, get something you'll use for your own cooking too.

@Mrsbells: you know, if you look into it, babies don't even NEED grains at all. It's a lot better for them nutritionally to just have veggies and fruits anyway. We had this discussion at my la leche league meeting and it was very interesting. I think The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding talks about it a little bit.
I don't plan on giving my baby any grains either, I plan to start with avocados, bananas and sweet potatoes which are both super easy to mash with a fork.

We actually received the baby bullet as a gift, but I wouldn't have purchased it otherwise.

Oh, here is an article from a blog I love and follow about it: http://www.thehealthyhomeeconomist.com/right-way-to-feed-babies/

I was going to link this one but it wasn't working, it is now and it's a little more in depth: http://www.foodrenegade.com/why-ditch-infant-cereals/

I was wondering this too, I was going to register for a baby bullet, but maybe I will hold off! 3 months doesn't seem like it would be worth it. I'll have to check my blender.

Thanks. Is anyone able to grind rice, oatmeal and other cereals in their regular blender? Thats one of the features of the baby bullet that I am interested in

I think it depends on the baby. Some babies have a gag reflex and it takes them longer to get used to regular foods. My sister has the baby bullet and loves it. She tried to use my blender one day for a small batch of carrots but the blade was too high to process the food. So I guess if you make all large batches, a food processor would do fine! :)

My sister and I got ours for gifts, drop a hint to someone so they buy you one -- that way, you can try it out at no loss to you! ;)

We received the Baby Bullet as a gift. We've been using it for almost 4 months now and I really like it. It's definitely not necessary though. If we hadn't have gotten it as a gift, we would have stuck with a regular blender or food processor. I do like the silicone tray that comes with it (you can buy it separately).

I love my food processor compared to the bullet. When we made puréed we did larger batches (large squash, bag of carrots, 2 sweet potatoes etc).

LO started eating finger foods at 7 months so I am glad I didn't get a baby food maker because I wouldn't have needed it for very long. We just blend her food with a small food processor we already had.

I used the Beaba Babycook for fruits because I liked keeping the juices that dripped out from the steaming process and used it to mix in with oatmeal. For veggies, I used a regular steamer basket & blender since I hear you're supposed to discard the liquid that comes out of certain veggies (dont' remember which ones though). Anyhow, a regular blender would work just fine. I think my son ate purees for 3 months or so.

I have the Baby Brezza, which steams and purees. I don't puree so much anymore (if I do, it's a chunky puree). But I still use the machine to steam things.
