My husband is terrible with gifts in general, so there's no way he'd think to get me a Push Present. I can barely get him to get me Christmas or Birthday presents! But I'm sure if I say "Hey sweetie, get me this," he will.

I'd never heard of a push present until my husband brought it up to me a few weeks after I gave birth asking me, "were you hoping for a push present?" - I had to ask, "what's that?" and he explained it to me. He had heard about it from a friend whose wife got really upset with her husband for not giving her a push present.

I did want one, and I told my husband so. I said I would like a keepsake that I could give to the baby when she was older.

Well, he hit it out of the park.

Our daughter's name is Irene, which means peace. He got me a necklace with a charm on it in the shape of a dove- the symbol of peace.

So, I wear it now, but when she's older- maybe her first communion or her confirmation, I'll pass it on to her.

I got one! Since I loooove to build furniture, the hubs got me an air compressor/nail gun combo. It rocks. I already built a couple of picture frames with it, and can't wait to get some extra cash together and build something nice and big!!

two weeks before our due date we went to my favorite restaurant (The Melting Pot) for our "last date" (we went on several more, but we wanted to designate a special time well before the due date in case I went into labor early and we missed our chance!) and he surprised me with a pair of diamond studs, my first. We always joked that I should have gotten a pair as a wedding gift, but we were so budget-strapped back then that we decided to forgo gifts to each other. I had hinted at a push gift since I love gifts... but he totally blew me away with the earrings. I put them on the day we went into labor and I haven't taken them off since!

my husband bought me a charm bracelet when i was pregnant with my first baby last year. i've put it away after the miscarriage. but WHEN my twins are born, i want 2 charms to add to the bracelet. and actually get to wear it. but just for sentimental reasons, not as a "push" present per se...

I didn't get one, but I was hoping to get something to remember the day, even if was something as simple as a card. My husband said he intended on doing something, but my water broke 2 weeks before my due date so it caught him off guard before he had time to act on his ideas.

I asked for a large bottle of Guinness and a huge sushi platter as my push present but I didn't get it for another couple of months after giving birth. :-(

On a more serious note, a baby nurse would have been a GREAT push present!

So a few days after my c-section my husband asked, "do you still get a push present if you don't push?" ... First I laughed -- then I thought how impressed I was that he even knew what it was. I had mentioned that a friend of mine got one but was definitely not pushing it on him. (pun intended)

Yesterday I got beautiful flowers from him with a note saying more to come ... he called it the birth present extravaganza.

Did you receive a push/birth present? Do you expect one?
