My DD is 6 months in a few days and we take her in pool 3-4 days a week, I don't worry about her hands and she loves to splash around, but I do worry about her ears and try to keep the water away as much possible, she always has on a hat so that helps!

As for the lake, I think it would be the same as the beach No?

I am not into her going under yet, but I am in FL and many people have LO swimming under water by 6 months I am unsure if they have plugs in ears or not... maybe ask Pedi?

We had one of those tubes where their legs go through so she didn't get much water up by her face. i didn't worry about her hands. We took her out sometimes, my first hated going under water, my second didn't mind it so dh would go under in the pool sometimes with herI don't think we dunked them in the lake. I just worry about the lake being murky so I like them in some kind of floaters in case somehow someone loses grip.

Hello everyone,

So DH has a very laid back parenting style unlike me lol and so a lot of times the stuff he wants to do with our baby makes me uncomfortable. We have a summer house near a lake and a pool. He wants to take our baby in both. He wants her to learn how to swim early and be comfortable putting her head underwater.
I'm worried about things like water getting in her ears or in her mouth ( since she puts her hands in her mouth all the time and they will have either chlorine or whatever microorganisms live in the lake) Am I worrying too much over nothing? What are your thoughts about this? Is 6 months too early?
