I really wish I could go back in time and not stress about putting baby on a schedule too early. I just think babies don't generally get on a good daytime sleep schedule until at least 6 months old. But I did try to transport LO when he just woke up for a nap so that he wouldn't take crappy catnaps in the car or stroller.

My dd is 6 mo and we are juuuuuuust now starting to have a schedule. As for going out, we never leave the house for more than 1-2 hrs at a time. Like, ever.

Ok. Maybe I can't put her on a schedule and should just try to work on sticking to the routine. Why is this so hard?!

How old is your baby? My baby put herself on a reliable eating schedule around 2 mo, so I at least knew when she would want to eat. But she was a terrible catnapper during her 4 mo sleep regression (3.5 mo-5.5 mo for us). Right around the time her sleep improved at 5.5 mo she consolidated her catnaps and now takes 2 reliable naps a day at 6mo+.
Sooo...I didn't really put her on one I guess. I just waited for her to put herself on one and I learned her patterns. It also helps that I know she should take a nap 2-2.5 hours after she's been awake (except in the evening- where I hold out for bedtime).
If I leave the house, I will bring my carrier with me. If baby doesn't fall asleep in her stroller I can put her in the carrier (I use an ergo) and she usually takes some sort of nap in there.
Otherwise, I don't worry about messing her schedule up. As long as you don't do it every day, an occasional missed nap or shorter nap won't hurt anything.

EASY is supposed to be a routine, not a schedule. We did EASY and it worked great for us. Going out (not that I did it much because I'm a wuss about nursing while out) wasn't an issue. Usually he'd nap, wake up and I'd nurse him, and then I took him out and about. If he fell asleep while out, then he was just in the "S" portion of EASY and I'd feed him again when he woke up!

I've been trying to put LO on some kind of loose schedule but it doesn't seem to be working. So now I'm going to try to put her on a tighter EASY schedule.

For those of you that have your baby on a schedule, how do you manage to go out? What do you do when you need to be out of the house with baby for more than a couple hours? Doesn't the baby just end up sleeping in the car/stroller throwing off the schedule?
