Well I had a physical this morning and they did a pregnancy test to rule that out and are going to schedule an U/S to double-check the positioning. If that's all good (as I assume it is since I can feel the strings) then I'll make an GYN.

So no real update, but I'm glad I asked because she told it's definitely abnormal for something like this to randomly start up after 6+ months of nothing.

I spotted for the first month and then didn't bleed until I took it out for years later. First period back was a massacre though. I'd definitely bring it up to your doc.

@futuremrsmck yes, that would be very frustrating. i'd probably ask about it.

I got my Mirena in March 2012...I spotted for several months which drove me crazy. Then the spotting went away and I thought I would go back to having a regular cycle...nope, I would get my period for several days, then about 10-14 days of nothing, then spitting for a few days, nothing for 10-14 days then my period again...I felt like I was going to lose my mind! I finally had it taken in early July and for the first time in a long time I had several weeks of no period/spotting

I had that experience with the mini pill. I switched to a stronger, combination pill because I wasn't nursing and hated the spotting cycle.

@jhd: I wouldn't care if it was a light (or even a regular) period...that came once a month. As it stands, it's happening CONSTANTLY, but I can't predict it. I don't want to walk around with a panty liner in every single day but my poor underwear...

I'm glad you brought this up. I have no answers, but I got a mirena placed 2 months ago and I am still spotting! I've been spotting daily since I got it inserted. When will it stop??

I would probably make the appointment with the obgyn just to be on the safe side.

Okay, this is starting to make me nuts.

I got my Mirena placed last November. I lightly spotted for 6 weeks, and then nothing until like 2 months ago. Two months ago I bled for like 2 days, figured I wouldn't be one of the lucky ones with no period. It never got all that heavy and then it stopped. A week or so later it started up again, for a day or two. Now I'm on a "schedule" of sorts...I'll bleed for 2-3 days, then it will stop for 7-10 days, then start up again.

Has anyone had this experience? I'm going to get a physical tomorrow and will ask the nurse's opinion, but should I also call and make an appointment with my OBGYN?
