But it backfired on me last time I tried it, because my "semi-smart" crockpot has to be programmed before it starts cooking, and I forgot that last time. I just set the timer for the period of time it should cook on low for. I'm gone longer than that, so if I turn it on before I leave and then it stays on "warm" for several more hours, would that ruin my meals? I wouldn't use the 4 hour setting because it switches to a warming setting if no one turns it off and the food would continue to cook. I am not worried about the appliance being on all day. </p>
