Thanks! Last night was much better I got a nearly 3 hour stretch! I will try to keep him up after feedings more. It's so hard with a toddler around too!

I try to keep Logan up after feedings during the day. I also wake him up after two hours of sleep during the day. I don't want him doing his three hour sleep stretches when I'm awake!

I got R up if it had been more than 3/3.5 hours during the day to tank her up and encourage being awake during the day and asleep at night. She needed a lot of sleep and her awake times were maybe 45 minutes tops at 4 weeks.

I read somewhere that babies confuse day/night if they take naps longer than three hours.

DD#2 got over day/night confusion around 7 weeks or so. She's 1 month old and over the past week sleep has drastically improved! Hang in there- you could experiment with waking him but I would give it a little longer if you can stand it. I feel way less competent and knowledgeable the 2nd time around, FWIW.

I kept my guy awake after feelings for up to an hour and a half at that age! Also started a bedtime routine at 5 weeks. It helped a lot. Good luck!

I was in a similar situation with my little one at that point too, even though i was doing all the things you've mentioned like having dim lighting and quiet at night. I think it just took him a couple more weeks to adjust with our perseverance (and my exhaustion!!). I hope this happens for you too.

Baby R turned one month old yesterday. He sleeps great during the day (2-2.5 hour naps....just took a 3.5 hour nap) but at night it's still a struggle to get a 2 hour stretch (and most nights is awake for at least an hour at times....last night it was 3!). In the afternoons it seems like he wakes, then eats and falls back asleep. He does have awake periods during the day it just seems that this pattern develops in the afternoon. I recall using EASY at this age with T, but day/night confusion wasn't really an issue at this point and he was sleeping primarily 3 hour stretches at night.

I know most babies figure out days and nights by 6 weeks. Should I at this point stop following his lead and instead wake him up after feedings to encourage more awake time? Or just follow his lead and wait it out?

I do other things to encourage him to sort out days and nights (dim lighting at night, white noise, swaddle, no eye contact, limited diaper changes....and during day keep it loud and bright and don't swaddle).

I swear I've done this before.....
