I was laid off but immediately offered another position at the same company. It wasn't a position I wanted though, so I didn't take it. It didn't affect my getting unemployment, but I think it would depend on the company? I would speak to the unemployment division in your state and find out what your options are. Sorry you're in this situation :( I got laid off years ago and had such a horrible severance package that I was getting almost the maximum check each week. They told me i am one of them but they also set me up for an impromptu interview for a similar position with another sister company. I was grateful for that but my manager hinted that this job is hourly waged and may work out to be less pay. If i do get the job offer, am i obligated to take it if it really is less pay. Does this affect my ability to get unemployment while looking for something Better </p>
