@MaryM: Hi! Sorry for this delayed response. I've been off of HelloBee for a little bit. I was really impressed with their cleanliness, program activities, double security entry (I think most daycare facilities are set up like this though), surveillance through all the classrooms and areas, and that they open until 6pm for regular pickup. There is another Kindercare about 7 minutes further that allows for a 6:30pm pickup but I didn't tour that facility yet. I live in a high traffic area so the extra 30 minutes would help a lot. I am a SAHM and was looking for a part time option while I was transitioning back to work. They didn't have a part time opening so we didn't use them. It worked out though because I am expecting #2 so DD will just stay home with me a few more months and continue our usual activities for her.

@Ms. Lilbunny: yes! We love our monthly date night. My LO is too young to even know we are gone I think but the older kids get to wear their pjs and watch a cute movie or do crafts. It's a nice touch!

My 4 month old loves kindercare, and i love the teachers and staff. Ours also has a monthly "parents night out" ($20 to keep them until 9pm) which we sometimes use since we don't have family in the area and hes too little to use a sitter IMO. I usually take the day off and send him at like 4pm so he isn't there for TOO long (and so I don't miss him too much!).

My DS has been attending Kindercare since he was 6 months old. Prior to that, he attended another daycare from age 3mo-6mo.
My DH and I really love Kindercare. His teachers do such a great job at communicating with us.
A few things that I really love:
1. Great two way communication, 2. small class room sizes (8 max in infant room - two infant rooms based on infant's mobility levels) 3. Different monthly educational topics (it's really cute when my DS Brings home art projects monthly) 4. Parent date night one Friday a month

@mrs. wagon: That's really interesting about different centers under the same name having different accreditation.

I'm a little OCD about planning and think I'll start a spreadsheet. That's a good thing to keep in mind!

@MaryM: We just switched to a daycare that is a kindercare franchise. It is wonderful and we love it so far. We talk to the teachers every day and are in contact with the front desk staff all the time and we feel 100% comfortable there. Plus one of our kids is almost 6 so he can tell us everything that's going on and he has nothing but wonderful things to say.

Also, we have 4 kindercares near us -- one is right across the street from the one we chose -- all the pricing was similar but we only toured this one because it was the only one that was NAYEC accredited.

Since it looks like this thread needs to be revived every 3 or 6 months... lol

@Kimberlybee: Do you have any feedback to add on Kindercare?

There are SO MANY facilities around us, and it's the closest thing to our house (there are 4 kindercares within just a few miles) so I'm becoming more interested in it.

I'm glad to hear it's franchised because a facility in the next county over was in the news last year for issues of neglect, so that had sort of soiled the name for me. But I figure there can't be so many of them if there isn't a demand!

Just looking for any additional feedback if you (or anyone else) has any to share!

@mediagirl: Yay!!! That's great news! We get to tour the facility and sit in on a couple of the programs and snack time this week. So I am glad to hear of your positive feedback. Thanks so much.

@mediagirl: I have narrowed down our daycare choices to 3 and one of them is a kindercare. They seem so expensive but looks like fun. Did you end up choosing kindercare?

I would avoid pre-paying. The discount would have to be really sizeable, anyway--too much risk for my taste.

I worked at one for about 3 years. As far as I know, they only have a director (then area director and on up)--I don't think KC franchises.

My son doesn't attend, but I worked at one in high school/college. They're a franchise, so different centers have different owners (sometimes several buildings are owned by the same person) and each center has it's own director. It could be the directors have different policies or comfort levels offering discounts. I'd ask the director again about the discount.

Has anyone used Kindercare? I know they are a chain but does each separate center have it's own owner or is there just a director at each center?

I ask because I went to see two recently. One said yes they would do a discount for pre-paying 6 months in advance. The other said no. I'm considering asking the one that said no again and letting them know that every.single.other daycare I have seen has also offered a discount for prepay.
