@irene: Oh yeah, DD went through a phase where she wanted me to hold her hand while she pooped and I just couldn't do it unless we were in her bathroom where I could sit on the rim of the bathtub!

@irene: We've always just had her do what they do at school. And that is to hop off the toilet, and bend over. Sounds bad when I type it out, but it works well for us. She will do it for herself for the most part, but I still like to check.

Out daughter started off using toilet trainers that sit on top of the toilet, but now she can go by herself and hold herself up! She's 3, turns 4 in October...

@MamaG: Same here. My son is 4.5 and still needs help with wiping. When he has to poo in public he just sits and holds onto the toilet. I will wipe the toilet down with wipes before he sits, if I have wipes on me. We scrub and sanitize hands after.

@Anagram: no.... I just don't see the point besides I don't want to bring a thing to the bathroom every time I had to take him and have to sanitize afterwards....I used to have one but I think I donated it...

@BabyBoecksMom: did she wipe her butt at public bathrooms after #2? How does she do it without falling in the toilet?

@MamaG: I see, I guess I should start telling him to hold onto the seat instead of me! Just that some toilets are so big 2 of my Los can fall in at the same time it made me nervous!!

@birdofafeather: haha I guess I am able to hold onto him because it takes him 10 seconds to poop. Btw when I say I hold him I mean I let him sit on the toilet seat while I hold onto / stabilize him, not like I suspend him in air while he poops lol

@MamaG: Same except my DD is 2.5. I just make sure she doesn't touch anything until we wash hands. I don't think there's another way around it because she takes forever to poop and I'm not gonna hold her for 10 minutes!

LO is almost 4 and I still help/check after #2. But I do not hold her on the toilet. She can get up and off herself. Yes, she touches the toilet and holds on to the sides. I know that probably bothers some people. But we absolutely wash hands or sanitize her hands every time we use a bathroom. I'm not very much of a germaphobe though either.

Our kids are the same age and I still check DD after she goes #2. I just make sure she didn't miss anything big.

When do you have your child wipe themselves in a public bathroom if they went for a #2?

LO is now 3.5 years old and he has been wiping himself at home and at school after pooping. I do check on him afterwards to make sure he did a good job but at school they don't. It is all good because I have a toilet seat adapter at home and the toilets at school are kid sized. However, in public bathrooms I just had to hold him or he'll fall into that big big hole! I usually just wipe him after he is done. What do you guys do? Around what age would they be capable of balancing and wiping themselves, or I should start somehow training him to do that by himself? I am just not looking forward for him to fall into the toilet at all. That accident I can not afford...

Any advice is welcomed!
