I just went with whatever I liked, which ended up being gender neutral anyway (browns, grays, creams, yellows). I figured you never know what will happen with baby #2. We may decide to not have another...or baby #2 might end up being the same gender. Most big purchase items end up being pretty much gender neutral anyway (swing, bouncer, high chair).

I have wondered about this too. Even though we are not PG yet. But I think I would try to do mainly gender nuetral for a lot of things. I think gear and what not esp. Crib bedding and clothes I think I would be OK with going more gender specific. We will see.

Our stroller, high chair, crib and other furniture are gender neutral but every thing else is girly (LO is a girl)...If/when we have #2 and it turns out to be a boy, then we'll buy boy things and give/sell the girl stuff (assuming we're just having two babies). New baby new things.

we arent having a registry but we are trying to buy neutral stuff. The baby tub we bought came in both blue and pink but we chose the blue one even though we are having a girl because blue just seems more neutral than pink

I registered for all gender neutral items. I figured she won't know the difference between a yellow or a pink towel.

I'm also going gender neutral on everything but clothes and some nursery items. I just prefer more neutral items, anyways, but I also think it's important to be able to reuse them later if needed.

I've gone gender-neutral on most things, but that's just what I like regardless. The only thing I can envision buying new would be some clothes and maybe crib sheets/burp cloths and such.

I'd get them all new for a new baby. I didn't buy tons of linens for my son, but after a year, they do look worn.

I'd go gender neutral on those things too. My brother and I shared a room until I was 3. However, he had a special quilt (from our great-grandma) that was ALWAYS on his bed, and his bed only. So a quilt was about the only thing that wasn't handed down to me as a toddler. I even got his Superman PJs.

Re: hooded towels and washcloths... DD #1 still uses hers from when she was a baby! She's almost 4 yo now, but the towels we got her were from Dwell Studio and they are huge. So those are hers and will always be hers til she transitions to our regular stash of "adult" towels (no idea when that is... still a few years from now). So yeah, DD#2's registry included new towels for her to use and those will always be hers. For pack n play sheets, if you have a gender neutral pack n play, then just get matching gender neutral sheets? Since you're having a boy first though, I wouldn't worry too much about a girl using blue sheets later on...

I tried to register for mostly gender neutral stuff. At the end of the day, we don't use the pack and play and ton so the sheets don't get worn at all. As for washcloths and towels, I say get what you like. I'm sure a girl would be just fine being washed with a blue washcloth and tried with a truck towel. ;) Depending on the spacing on your kids, if your boy is in a toddler bed, he would likely still be using his sheets, so baby #2 might need a couple of their own.

If I were to go back in time, I'd do gender neutral for most things. All those little things add up and if I have a boy next I'm in trouble. But I feel like most boy things are gender neutral so you'll be fine. You an put a girl in blue, but you can't put a boy in pink. According to society at least.

We know that baby Winnie is a boy (yay!) and for all of our major gear (stroller, carseat, bundleme, boppy cover, pack n play) I plan on getting gender neutral stuff so that we can use it again. Clothing and bedding we'll get special for our little guy. But what about things like hooded towels, washcloths, pack n play sheets....are these things you would go gender neutral with? Or will these items be so worn out by the time #2 comes around that you would purchase new anyways?

Thanks!
