I took a break in December after our failed IUI/chemical
I never got my cycle back after and had to take Provera to induce the cycle I am on.

Like you said that is not everyone.....

I will say I felt GREAT! I felt back to my not so bloated and crazy self...lol

@Happygal: I have to take one cycle off, then one on BCP, so we'll compare notes for this cycle :)

@Shutterbug: we can compare our experiences! Are you going straight to another IVF cycle, or do you have to take a break?

@spaniellove: on my own, I ovulated an average around CD 17-18. On oral drugs, it was a day or two earlier/later. On injectables, it has been much earlier--first CD 13, then 12, and lastly CD 11. I think I ovulated on CD 11 last time b/c they upped my dosage. As for my luteal phase, that has been all over the place on meds, and I've taken progesterone for the last three cycles.

@blackbird: that had to be a very good surprise!

The second month I took a break from the meds, I actually got pregnant. The couple of months that I was on them, it seemed to have re-set my body and got me ovulating again.

@Shutterbug: If you end up going the natural cycle/no BCP route, it's possible your post-IVF cycle might be a little longer. I remember I ovulated later that cycle, around CD 17, when I normally ovulate CD11-14. But it turned out to be a good thing because I got a BFP that cycle and even though that didn't work out it helped me figure out what treatment was actually effective!

Did being on meds throw things off a lot for you? I had a few stim-free months here and there (although I did use progesterone in some of those months) but didn't notice much of a difference. Sorry I can't be much of a help, but I hope it's a nice break!

When I took a med break back in November, I ovulated on CD 14, when I normally ovulated on CD 18-21 without meds. However, without the progesterone support in my LP, I had a 10 day LP again, which was just a little longer than my pre-med LP of 9 days.

I'm interested to see how my body handles this current cycle after IVF with no meds.

ETA: here's my chart from that cycle

If you have taken a break from fertility meds, how did your body respond? I know everyone is different, but I'm curious about this.

We're doing a med-free month in February. This is the first time in seven months I haven't taken some kind of fertility medicine! I'm wondering if my body is going to go right back to its normal routine, or if things will be thrown off.
