My LO had a blue or purplish bump before the two bottom teeth came in at around 4 months. He now has seven teeth at 7 months. The top four came in at the same time and we didn't see them coming.

Babies seem to start drooling a lot at 4 months in preparation for teeth. But it wasn't until 8 months that my LO got her first tooth. A little white pops out first and then the tooth slowly emerges out. Fevers can also be associated with teething. My LO ran a high fever for a few days while getting her first few teeth.

And yes, my LO is cranky every time she gets some new teeth so it's a long road!

Thanks you guys! I also noticed today that during breastfeeding, it felt sharper - not that she's biting me, but I can feel something. Her crankiness is bringing me back to her colicky days and I want to cry!

Yeah you should be able to see the teeth peeking through the gum. That part of the gum will be whiter and feel a little sharper, at least thats what happened with my nephew

First tooth showed up for us just before 7 months though he'd been drooling and stuff for months. Once the tooth cut through the gum line it was still another few days as the entire width of the tooth came through but it did get better once it finally emerges through the gum. We definitely noticed when sleep gets crazy and the fussiness escalates to match the drooling and the low grade fever sticks around that we should expect another tooth within about 2-3 weeks but every baby is different.

You should be able to see some white before it breaks skin. M got her first tooth at around 5-5.5 months. Her second came in the next day.
I didn't even know she was teething until she smiled and I saw some white! She had more drool than usual and she was wanting to chew everything.
Her top 4 teeth were a little different. She was super cranks and chomping down on everything. I noticed nipple biting right before the bottom set and top ones came in.
She stopped biting though. PTL!

LO is 5.5 months old and since she was 4months old I was convinced that she was teething. But over the last couple of days her sleeping has gone all out of whack, her naps are bad, she's whiney and fussy, clingy and drooly, and last night had a very mild temperature. So now I'm convinced she really is teething.

But nothing!

My question is: After months and months of sysmpoms, does a baby wake up one day with a pearly white that has broken through the gum? Once it has broken through, is baby still in pain or is that the end of teething until the next tooth shows up?

When did your LO get his/her first tooth?
