Thank you all for the input! I will go ahead and keep the first temp

@regberadaisy: I've been temping since August, but due to my irritatingly long cycles, this is only the second cycle. Hoping the EWCM is a sign I will ovulate soon and therefore start having shorter cycles. I got off amethia (Seasonique) in May, and have had 45-55 cycles since then. Trying to figure out if I'm still regulating, or if long cycles are just normal for me :bummed:

Also agree with all the previous posters to use the 5:45 temp, and I wouldn't put stock in how *much* your temp rose after you took it the second time--that sounds typical. I always have a dip the day that I ovulate (like @kitty said can happen) but it isn't ever as dramatic as your dip on this chart, usually .4 or so. The only time I ever got something like yours was in June, the night I took our big comforter off the bed and just used our thin summer blanket with the AC on--I woke up absolutely freezing, and my temp was like 96.2. The next night I put another layer on the bed and my temps were back to normal. So maybe the fact that you woke up cold has something to do with it?? The EW sounds like a great sign though! :goodluck:

Keep your first temp. I definitely had dips when I was ovulating as well. How long have you been temping?

I would use the first temp as it's recommended to have slept for at least 3 hours to get an accurate temp for nfp. I have heard that there can be a drop around ovulation and then the post-o rise in temps, but it isn't common.

Temps are best for telling when you already ovulated anyway, and the cm is best for telling when you will ovulate so I would say you are safe to even disregard today's temp if it's not reliable. Good luck!

Stick with the 5:45 temp, since that is your normal temping time, make a note of your sleeping circumstances. It's not uncommon to get a temp dip during your fertile time, though, and some people get one close to ovulation.

This is my second cycle charting using Fertility Friend. I have long cycles (45-55 days). Last cycle, my temps were very erratic, but I got crosshairs on CD 34 and my period started 15 days later. This cycle my temps seem much more "normal," but I got a huge drop this morning, CD 25. I thought it was odd, but went back to sleep (I temp at 5:45 every morning). I took my temperature when I woke up again around 8, and it was almost a degree higher! My question is, which temp would you use? Normally, I would discard it, but I think I'm in my fertile window because I've been seeing EWCM and I want to be as accurate as possible. I'm also unsure about my original low temp at 5:45 because I did not sleep well and was cold when I woke up. I slept well from 5:45-8:00. Here's a pic of my chart, when I temped again at 8 it was 97.52
