I would do a back carry. They are so much comfier for longer periods of time with bigger babies. Enjoy!

My kids love being at adult level for events like that. I would wear.

@ShootingStar: Thanks for the insight!! It's good to know that it's flexible about how long it takes! We're definitely more like you and like going at our own pace, so you're right that baby wearing would probably be better for that!

Of course now the ILs are talking about not having dinner until 7:00 and going after that, so... we may not go at all!

@Adira: It's one of those things you can go for an hour or 4, depending on how much you're enjoying it and how much energy you've got. I think we probably spent a couple hours. We would also kind of duck into some of the less interesting/smaller houses, listen for a minute to what someone was saying about it, and then duck back out. If you guys are like that (I personally like doing things at my own pace) then baby wearing will probably be great over the stroller. It was pretty busy when we went.

@ShootingStar: Oooh! Have you?? How long would you say you were out and about strolling through the houses? I'm worried about the timing since it's from 5:00 to 9:00 and Xander's usually in bed by 7:00!

@MsLipGloss: @looch: Thanks ladies!! I'll have to try that out with my Ergo and Xander! I tend to carry him on my hip in general when not using the Ergo, so I wonder if we'd both find this more comfortable!

@Adira: it's where you carry your LO on your hip, I'd classify it between a front and a back carry.

Ergo has instructions for it.

I would definitely wear him. We use both, but for something like that wearing would be way easier in an Ergo/Boba/etc. You can do a back carry if you think he'd like that better. I just wear my coat over him and tuck it below his neck!

Thanks ladies! Sounds like wearing him is a good idea (and will save me some $$ not having to buy a fancy stroller)!

@Smurfette: I actually never got a maternity coat, but I'm sure I have SOMETHING that I could wear to wrap about the both of us! Good idea!

Especially at that age, LO preferred being worn. She could see more because she was not looking at people's knees.

I wear whenever possible, and usually opt for a wrap over a stroller, unless I'm solo, and I need the whole big diaper bag.

DD doesn't mind looking side to side, and seems to be able to take it all in. She's not big enough for a back carry, but have you considered that?

If you're going in and out of houses, I would wear him. He will be snuggly and warm on your chest! Don't worry about him seeing things, if he sees something interesting, he'll turn his head in that direction. And you can turn him to see it, too. :)

So we're potentially going to be going to this Candlelight Stroll thingy in December (in New England, so it'll be cold) and I had originally been thinking of buying a stroller for the occasion, but now I'm thinking maybe I could get away with just using the Ergo...

So baby wearers - give me your opinions! Xander will be 9.5 months and we'll be walking around outside in a small little historic village and going in and out of the old houses and the whole place is full of lights and candles and lots of stuff going on. Do your babies mind having to look side to side to be able to see what's going on? Or do you think a stroller would be better so that he can see everything? What do you all think??
