We only use Enfamil Enfacare which is especially for babies born prematurely. I would choose one brand and stick to it.

we only ever tried two kinds of the same brand Enfamil Newborn and Enfamil Gentleease. We hated the power newborn but like the liquid newborn but in the end our favorite was gentleease so we stuck to that

We've stuck with one brand (Enfamil). We started with Enfamil Newborn and then switched to Gentlease because DS was pretty gassy at 2-3 weeks old. I have no plans to go to a cheaper generic because I dont want to deal with DS having any stomach issues!

I have several containers of Similac that is sent to me and we use Gerber Good Start as our ped said that is the best for a sensitive tummy. Of course we don't get that brand samples in the mail :) I have been giving the free cans to another mom in our daycare who uses that brand.

Don't alternate just because. We did that with DD when we were just supplementing, for the same reason we had all this free formula, and she was painfully constipated. It was HORRIBLE, and it happened on Christmas Day so we couldn't buy anything to help since everything was closed!

DS only gets formula and we have stuck to the same formula the whole time for fear of the nasty constipation.

I have emailed the formula company once a month since we started and they mail me $5 off coupons. You just have to ask for it!

We don't supplement (if we did we would have to use nutramigen because of her allergies and I would end up in the poor house!) But I remember during our infant care class our ped said you should always stick with a formula for at least two weeks straight before you change anything so you know how your LO reacts to that brand.

we stuck with one at a time. he was on similac advance but it was too hard on his stomach, made him extremely gasy(then we found out he had reflux). we then switched to enfamil gentlease(had a free sample at home) and he did great on it. then we found out that target formula is the same so we switched to that, he's been on it since. if you switch it up a lot and mix and match you'll never know which one is causing tummy troubles(if they have any)

Our ped recommended just one at a time so if they have tummy troubles it's easier to identify. You could always just keep one of those extras in you and DH's car in case of emergency. Can't tell you how many times we thought the other packed it in the diaper bag and ended up spending $40 we didn't intend

I asked this same question too and the overwhelming consensus was to stick to one kind.
I kept one sample in case of emergency, am planning on mailing one to a bee, and will donate the rest to a womens shelter.

We do half breastmilk half formula and we have used Similac Advance from the very beggining. she likes it and we have never had any issues with it so we have stuck with the similac exclusively. we have samples of other formula, but it is unused. however we did get some cool different cooler bags and ice packs from the different companies and we plan to use those for when I return to work and will be pumping and sending bottles of breasrmilk and formula to daycare

I use nugramegin hypoallergenic formula but because its so expensive, I mix it with normal formula. I seriously buy whatever is on sale! lO never had any reactions at all.
I also got free formula from Enf&Sim brands and used them all!

Our pedi advised to stick with one brand of formula at a time because some babies will react differently to different brands of formulas and in order to determine if that is the issue; you'll need to be able to pinpoint (and eliminate if necessary) the formula that is bothering them.

If you do end up sticking to one brand and have those samples; you can always donate unopened formula to shelters for women and children.

Do you always use the same formula? Do you ever mix and match?

Of course there's no way of knowing how things will go until our LO is here, but right now we're planning on both BFing & supplementing regularly with formula. I've signed up with a couple different formula companies, and got full-size samples in the mail. Right now I have two different Similac formulas & two different Enfamil formulas. I would hate to waste all of this free formula, but I'm not sure if it's okay/normal to mix and match. What do you do?!
