No teeth until 13 months - did half inch cubes of lots of stuff - maybe try ripe pears, bananas, chunks of Mrs. Markers mini muffins, a cheese omelet cut up into pieces, 1/4 cubes of cheddar cheese, avocado chucks and ziti cut into 1/3s.

They use their molars to grind food, so lack of teeth doesn't actually affect eating at all...consideirng they don't usually get molars til 12-18 months I think. We give LO pretty much anything we eat, as long as it's soft enough for me to squish between my fingers I figure he can squsih it in his gums.

I made sure everything was very small and soft. LO got his first teeth at 11.5 months and only had 6 teeth by 18 months.

@Aimed: I bet he will surprise you if you let him try! My kiddo only has three in front and can eat most anything just grinding his gums.

My dd#1 didn't get her first tooth until she was 13 months old. I offered her a lot of soft foods that she could easily gum, like bananas, pasta, bread, ripe pears, mangoes, steamed carrots and peas. I diced up the foods fairly small and just made sure she only ate one piece at a time and didn't overstuff her mouth. It's surprising how well they are able to "chew" with their gums.

My LO is almost 11 months and not a tooth in sight. I assume that they will show up at some point and we won't have to resort to baby dentures, but I'm the meantime could any other mamas of late teethers tell me how it affecting eating? My LO takes purées, puffs and crackers but I nervous to give him chunks of food as he can't chew them and I am terrified of choking.
I should probably mother up and give him bigger chunks of food but the lack of teeth to grind food worries me.
All thoughts welcome!
