I would suggest putting him down in a crib for naps and such at times, to get him used to it. We bedshared full time for a few months, but put my girl in her floorbed for naps. She transitioned very easily at 8 months to sleeping full time down there. She still prefers to have someone sleep with her, though, so we snuggle her to sleep every night. If she wakes before morning (maybe half the time) my husband goes down and sleeps with her for the last few hours of the night.

@mrsjazz: That's our plan. DH has 5 days off for the holiday so we're hoping to nap train him, I'm not sure how yet though :/ He's almost 6 months old and still naps mostly in my arms.
I nap with him every day for his long nap. It's a great excuse for me teeheehee

@junebugmama: Same here. LO won't go to sleep unless I'm lying down with her. I often fall asleep before I want to because it just feels so good to be sleeping next to my little lady.

She is 7 months. We want to at least nap train her to sleep in her crib in her room and she may sleep with us at night until after she's weaned...though it will be pretty hard. I know I love cuddling up with DH, why should she have to sleep alone?

I have a similar fear and I am interested in the answers. Our LO though won't go sleep at night unless I am lying with him. Is yours the same?

We moved when LO was a year and she got her own room then. I do end up sleeping half the night in her room most nights, she has a mattress on the floor so we just curl up together. She would sleep alone if we put our foot down but neither of us is unhappy and DH gets up really early so I get to be in her room while he gets ready in the morning. She's spent the night at my moms without us and it went decently smooth so I donno, I don't regret all the cuddles even though it probably would have been easier to put our foot down earlier.

We have co-slept since DS was born and we love it. He's 21 months now and it's still the only way we would sleep. If you are serious about doing it long term I would recommend either getting a larger bed or sidecaring your crib. We have a queen bed with the crib set up as a toddler bed and pushed right up next to it. I'm pregnant now and we are thinking that we will get a single bed and push it up next to the other side of the bed sometime soon. Our plan for moving him out would be after another year or two when he would likely move out to another room with his sibling. Honestly though I think if we moved him out now it wouldn't be that difficult. We just don't have any other bedrooms ;)
