We have the summer infant video monitor that switches every 8 seconds. We have white noise just in the baby's room and not in the toddlers room, we don't hear the switch though - we keep our white noise low and close to baby's head though.

@SproutBee: Each room has their own white noise. For us, it's a subtle difference, but you could totally crank up the white noise in one to even it out over the monitor! The difference is just the distance from the camera to the white noise machine.

@MamaG: good point. My audio runs on DECT technology and my potential video dual monitor runs on FHSS wireless... So hopefully it would be ok? Would def need to test it and have a good return policy, though.

We tried two independent video setups and it was a nightmare. They interfered with each other (and our wifi!) and kept cutting out. I'm not sure if you'd have the same issue with the video and audio combination, but just something to be aware of.

@Mrs. Tiger: yeah, I already have one audio monitor that works great. So thinking maybe I should set up 2 cameras, but keep the dual monitor set to baby #2s room. That way audio will just come constantly through... And I can just switch cameras if i want to peek into room #1.

We've survived 2 years with audio only, but I kinda want to splurge this time around!

@SproutBee: We have different sources of white noise in each room (and the cameras are placed different distances away) and you can totally hear each transition.

Perhaps you should just get a 2nd audio monitor and have them both with you?

@QBbride: @Mrs. Tiger: @Adira: @MamaG: thanks for your replies ladies. If it scans back and forth every 8-10 seconds, does it sound choppy? We'll have white noise machines going (the same one, though, the Dohm) and I worry you'll hear the transition and it'll bug me and keep me awake. No? I'm the type of person that can't sleep with a ticking clock in the room. :-P

@QBbride: Yep, we have Motorola too and you can scan between cameras every 10 seconds. It works great!

I know you didn't ask about video monitors, but we have a Motorola video monitor with two cameras. Apparently you can set it to scan between the two cameras every 10 seconds, and both have audio so you should hear whether your kiddo is crying within 10 seconds.

Baby #2 coming in Sept and looking into upgrading to a dual monitor. Currently only have an audio that has worked great.

Do any of the dual baby monitors also have simultaneous audio? As in, you can hear noise coming from both cameras/rooms without toggling back and forth? Or do the monitors know which room is making noise and then broadcasts from that camera/room?

Just having some difficulty understanding dual monitors from what I'm reading online... but I really want to make sure the audio is top-notch so that overnight I know which kiddo is making the noise!

Thanks!
