I am the weirdo who needed this done twice! They had trouble with it the first time because my cervix has a severe angle and needed to try different catheters. Then they called me and told me to come back in to tell me they wanted to do it again because they weren't convinced it went all the way in, and if that didn't work they were going to do it a third time as a hysteroscopy w/ general anesthesia. Thank goodness it worked that second time! But both times the pain was pretty much limited to the procedure so I'd think you would be fine going back to work.

Have you had an IUI? It's basically the same thing. I think you'd be fine to work after.

Good luck with your cycle!

I just had mine on Monday! The hardest part for me was having a full bladder. My stomach was so full that I felt nauseous. I was also surprised that they didn't let my DH go in the room with me. This was the first time they've told him no.

The procedure was a bit uncomfortable. She had trouble getting the catheter in. Apparently my cervix is tilted or something. She practiced a couple times. I had a little bit of spotting, but nothing major.

My mock transfer was practically nothing. It felt more like the usual ultrasound to me. It only took about 5 minutes and from what I remember, my RE measured the length of something( I don't remember what). I believe he also determined the right "route" to take for the transfer, and the told me I needed to have a full bladder for the transfer. I didn't feel any pain or discomfort.

Take some Tylenol. They just put a catheter in and push some saline. It's not too bad but they give us doxy afterwards and that makes me very bloated and yucky feeling.

Now that I'm back from vacation and have started my BCPs in preparation for IVF, things are getting real! I talked with my IVF coordinator yesterday and later this week we're going to have my calendar review, figure out meds to order, etc. My coordinator also mentioned that she needed to book me in for a mock embryo transfer.

My sister's dr. didn't do this, so I don't really know what to expect. (All my first hand knowledge of IVF comes from my sister's experience in June!) I was wondering if any of you ladies have done a mock embryo transfer and if you could tell me what it was like. How long did it take and did you experience any bleeding or pain after? Is it something I will need to take a whole day off work for, or do you think I could go back afterwards? Should I take some tylenol beforehand like I did with the HSG?

I'm of course going to ask my coordinator about all this when we meet, but I'm getting antsy for more information now! :)
