If birthing philosohpy is important to you, you can ask about that. I prefer having a birth as non-interventional as possible and midwives are generally more supportive of this. If your OB is like-minded, she might be great too.

Also midwives also generally have more time to spend with you during appointments.

I would imagine that most of those answers will match your OB's. I would ask about her care philosophy, how often she does testing/ultrasounds, what her traditional labor practices are, etc. Is she a CNM? When or with what complications would she transfer care to an OB (not just during labor). Hope this helps!

I have a meeting with the midwife who is part of my OB practice tomorrow. I am currently almost 6 weeks along and need to decide if I want to stay with my OB (who I really like) or switch to the care of the midwife ( which I always imagined doing) So, I was wondering what others have asked at this type of consultations.
Things I know:
- her education/background
-the hospital she delivers at
-who she would transfer care to in case of complications
-that there is access to birthing tubs/bars

Thanks!!
