Poor L and you if you're coming down with what he has. Sick babies are so sad and heartbreaking. No additional advice then what's given above. Just wishing both of y'all a quick recovery soon. *hugs*

@LuLu Mom: thanks!

@winniebee: thanks! I never thought to put the oil in the humidifier! We just put it on a tissue and put it beside the humidifier, but that would work so much better! I will try the Motrin. We used Tylenol and it did break his fever but didn't help much with anything else.

@Mrs. Lion: ugh. That's good to know. Thanks. I'll pick up some baby Vicks today while I'm out. Thankfully I haven't seen the worst of it. I've been taking coldFX like crazy and I think it's helping but I definitely don't feel right.

@Mrs. Lion: yes I read that too. Vicks baby doesn't have menthol in it so it's safer.

I just discovered a few weeks ago that Vicks is super dangerous and makes the mucus way worse in babies under 2. Apparently there is a baby version that is safe, but we were warned to stay away from regular vicks (even the humidifier kind). :( Hang in there momma! we are at the tail end of a really rough cold. Get as much sleep as you can yourself...it is super hard to take care of a sick baby when you are sick yourself! :(

Hope things get better today, I second Saline Spray that stuff is awesome. I buy it in the baby aisle, a bunch of different companies make it specifically for babies. Steamy showers should help before nap too to help loosen up the gross stuff and help him breathe when sleeping. And elevate LO's mattress with a towel to hopefully help him sleep better.

@mskeee: @Grace: aaaah! Thanks ladies! I'm going to try there today first! I admit it has been a while since I checked bru for it.

@Running Elley: thanks! I think I'll try the saline today... Do I have to buy it or make it? I have some weird sample called hydra sense, I think it's saline? Haha

@MrsB2012: I'm pretty sure it's a cold because I feel sick too. He's also coughing and the snot is really yellow plus the low grade fever came out of no where. :(

@MamaMagpie: hahahaha that made me LOL! Good to remember! ;)

@Ash: <3

@petunia354: well, he had the hardest time getting to sleep and DH ended up falling asleep with him in the rocker. I was really expecting a night full of wake ups but he ended up sleeping from 11pm to 6:30am! So that was great! He's still super sick though. Thanks lady <3

Poor guy! I join the saline fan club -- and the NoseFrida as soon as you can get your hands on one.
Also, I know you said he's super wiggly but you really might want to try elevating the mattress...it makes the absolute biggest difference for H when he's stuffy.
And ok...this is horrifyingly disgusting and hard to admit...but one time H was crazy stuffy and I'd left the NoseFrida at my aunt's house...so I put my mouth over his nose and sucked. *shudder* But it worked!

I have a hydra sense. It looks like it's the same as a nose frida. We got ours at our baby shower, but I've seen them at Target. ( Canada target) You could also try Wal Mart.

Is it possible he's teething? I know sometimes a lot of the symptoms of teething are similar to a cold. Maybe try and give him a frozen wash cloth to such on? Even if it's not teething, the frozen cloth might help keep him cool?

Saline makes a HUGE difference for us as well! I can get way more out (and I use the regular bulb aspirator) when I use it- plus it's easier on their poor little noses :(

@lawbee11: bru doesn't sell them here. :( they are only sold in specialty shops! So lame!

@Sammyfab: well, I would definitely rather him cry over something that works than the stupid bulb that doesn't work at all! I found online that you can get one at e children? I think that's what it's called.

@MamaMoose: I don't think I can prop his crib up because he is such a squirmer! He never stays in one place very long and he would probably end up head down and just make the congestion worse. Lol!

What makes the biggest difference for us is putting a couple drops of saline in each nostril, it helps break up the gunk. Also prop up the head of his crib.

I'm not totally sure where you can find them...maybe WestCoast Kids?

@.twist.: oh no! The thing we've used most since M has been sick is the nose Frida. She hates it, but it does wonders for her congestion. BRU in the US carries them, so maybe check there? Or get one overnighted from Amazon?

Oh man. DH is in the nursery rocking L. He's come down with a bad cold and a low grade fever. He's super stuffed up and we don't have a nose frida. I'm going to try and get one tomorrow but they're hard to get here. It's past his bedtime and the way things are going right now makes me believe we will be up all night long. He is tired but can't get back to sleep and is just crying.

So far I have his humidifier going and have put Vicks on his chest and back. Any other tips? I feel so so so badly for him and want him to get a decent nights sleep. :(
