I've never had a painful BH. Another thing to try is a shower. My doula said a shower will stop false labor but may make real labor more intense,

Thank you so so much ladies! DH and I decided to lie and leave and I went to my moms and drank 4 bottles of water within the last 2 hours. I've only had 4 big BH in those past 2h. So I think it was dehydration (it was hot at that house we were at).
@winniebee: I'm 36&1d. I was hoping you'd weigh in because I know you've been through ptl episodes.
@hilsy85: I heard this too; mine were in the front which kept me from getting too worried.

All is good--thank you guys for calming me:)

I had some pretty nasty BH while I was pregnant. My husband was always nervous, but they were too inconsistent for them to be real contractions. I agree with everyone, drink water and see what happens :)

Agree that bh did not really hurt for me. A tad uncomfortable? Yes. Real contractions started as bh and then became like a bh butbpainful.

BH should not hurt!! I had millions of them when I was pregnant. They should just be a hardening of the uterus... Annoying if anything. Drink water and lay down. If they don't get better, call your doctor ASAP!

I"ve heard regular contractions start in your back and spread around to your front, or vice versa...but BHs are just in the front. Either way, I would drink a lot of water and move around, and see if that helps!

I honestly have no useful information to add but I hope you're ok. Maybe you could sneak a call to your ob?

Not sure bout strong bh, but when I got my first real contraction, I totally knew. It was really painful! I think if you r not sure, it's most likely bh. I agree w pp and drink water.

How far along are you? I had them starting around 26 weeks pretty regularly. My OB went by the rule if I had them closer together than 15 mins apart to call - because sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between BH and real contractions. Otherwise to help alleviate you can drink loads of water and rest. Good luck!

I can't help you with labor pains vs strong BH, but try to drink as much as you can ( I believe our childbirth class leader said it will dilute the hormone) and rest as much as possible. I'm assuming you can't lay on your left side, but sitting down may help.

DH and I are at a dinner party and I am sitting here in such pain! I decided to send out a quick Q to the ladies of HB.
My stomach is handening like a rock...solid rock and hurts so much I have to hunch over. Then it releases.....I am trying to time them and in 20m I've had 3. Just wondering: are these super strong BH? Is there anything I can do to relieve them? I dot want anyone at the dinner party knowing they're happening and when someone asked why I looked so "pained" I lied and said I ate too much but really all I managed to eat (because of pain) was a cube of cheese on a cracker.
