We make homemade play dough - the kind you cook with flour and salt - so if he tries to eat it, it's just salty and gross. It keeps really well and I just give him utensils and cookie cutters and he can do that for a long time.

We tape butcher paper to our breakfast table (the old beat up table) and let him go at it with stickers and crayons. The big wads of paper that come inside the Amazon boxes are perfect for that.

Speaking of which, we save big boxes from Amazon and let him decorate it or play with them. He has one that I drew to look like a bus and he puts all his friends in and they "ride" in it. Another is a red car.

We have a big sheet pan and he uses lots of magnets on it. That's good for pretend play.

Peg cards/boards might be fun. Those are fine motor skills activities that take a while.

DD1 is at the age where sometimes she naps or sometimes she doesn't, but her sister still needs a nap and I could use sometime to work out or fold laundry (or sit on my butt and check HB!). I can get her to stay in her room for about 30 minutes but then she's constantly coming out and telling me things or asking for something. I'm hoping to get some good quiet and parental hands off activities in our rotation. She loves playing with figurines in shaving cream and she can do play dough unsupervised a little bit (but she does still try to eat it sometimes or asks for help making things).

What are some quiet time activities you have or would like to have your LO do?
