I quit pumping when lo was 16 months and have continued to nurse on demand without much impact on lo at all. I was also down to 1 session when I stopped, and I was barely getting anything, like I think about 2 oz during that pump if I remember correctly. on weekends and days she's home with me, lo still nurses during that time. I also miss sessions periodically and it's not a big deal. I actually don't think she gets much at all from me, but it's more of a comfort nursing thing.

@T.H.O.U.: I nurse at 130-2 and 12 midnight before and after work. Where as normally I wouldn't nurse until 3 and then around 730 for bedtime. I plan to continue nursing till perhaps age 2, , assuming it keeps working for both of us. Ideally it would be only naps and bedtime. Maybe once he's strictly on one nap it will be easier. Since I will just postpone my normal bedtime session by 4 hours?

@josina: I feel like my schedule is what makes it harder! That bedtime session I assume will be one of the last to go!

@ElbieKay: I know it sounds crazy! It's more just for comfort And keeping my supply up at this point! Pretty sure my coworkers think I am a weirdo, I don't know any of them nursing past one.

I think for now I will continue my session since I just do it during my dinner break. I'll try to keep it around bedtime or later. And just only pump for a few minutes, not worry about emptying.

100% yes. If your LO doesn't want it, there is no point in doing it (Except if you donate it - which is awesome!) I would just cut out the session, I don't think your body will freak out too much since your schedule seems to vary anyway.

I would say quit pumping, but it might be hard to regulate to that since you still nurse during that time when you're not working.
When I quit pumping at work at 1 year I also quit nursing during those hours. DS helped with that though because he just wasn't interested during the day so it was easy...

OMG there is no way I would continue pumping if my child didn't want to drink the milk and was already over 12mo!

I'd quit since he doesn't care for the expressed milk!

Yes, if you think you wont be in pain. How long do you want to BF for? Do you nurse right before work and right after work?

I've basically posted something like this before but no real resolution. I am down to one pump at work. My baby is over 1 now. I work three days in a row per week, evenings only 3pm-11pm. I still nurse on demand and lately it's been very frequent. I would say during the time I am at work, on my days off I typically nurse at least 2 times, sometimes 4-6. Maybe average 3-4.

Anyways, I now pump one time. Could I quit pumping? I don't need the expressed milk, he never drank much breast milk when I work and especially doesn't now.
