That is so nice! And so refreshing to hear after Mr Bee's story of some similarly aged punks from yesterday. I don't expect random acts of kindness from teenagers/college students as they tend to be incredibly self absorbed, so when it does happen, it warms my heart.

There's nothing significant jumping out at me now for what's happened lately, but when I go to the store and am trying to put a cart cover on whilst holding LO, someone nearly always offers to help - they're usually people who look to be parents themselves and know what it's like juggling a baby and ten other things!

I don't know if I just look miserably pregnant, but I've gotten a lot of help from strangers lately. Just today at the store on the way home from work, I dropped some change, and a random guy came over to pick it up for me.

How nice!!

Last month we got new appliances and my DH was running a gas line. Well he had been working on it all day and it was dinner time so I went to get Olive Garden takeout. I brought LO with me so he could keep working. I kept LO in his carseat and was struggling with openning the door and a little boy jumped up to help me. He was only 6 years old or so. I thought it was so sweet!!

It's nice to hear of these kinds of acts of kindness from the younger generation. It reassures us that there are still parents out there that teach their children morals and values! Little stories like these really make my day! :)

It's nice when things like that happen. Most people I see will hold a door or elevator for me when I have the stroller. Of course the other week a woman just let the door go after she passed and we were standing right in front of her! At least the good acts help counterbalance the rude ones.

That's so sweet. The bagger at the grocery store insisted on pushing my cart out for me and loading my groceries into the car, because I had Eloise with me. It was really sweet.

I hope his mother sees him do things like that and is very proud!

I've been pleasantly surprised by the number of people who offer me seats on the train (6 1/2 months pregnant). I have heard horror stories, but I'll say at least half the time someone offers. I usually don't even take it but the offer makes me feel better about people.

Aw that's so nice!

I haven't been on the receiving end lately, that I can remember, or the giving end, either.

We were out for brunch on Mother's Day and there was this little old man eating all by himself (which always makes me sad) and when he went to leave, he was having a lot of trouble getting up out of his chair. He just kept rocking back and forth trying to launch himself up. Right when I decided to go offer him a hand, a young-ish guy at the next table beat me to it. He offered the guy a hand, made sure he was steady, then went and opened the door for him. It was really nice.

Aw that is so sweet!

I usually try to be on the giving end whenever I can! Holding doors, offering to take pics of a family (always my fave when I see a mom taking a picture of dad and kids to offer to get one of the whole family!)

I'm inspired to do something else now!

So yesterday a stranger lectured me on my coffee intake and BFing habits. Today some guy followed me for a block to give me his umbrella.

I had decided to take a walk up to the dollar/grocery stores. It was mostly sunny when I left, but halfway there (it's a 2 or so mile walk) it started raining. Not hard, and it wasn't cold, and E wasn't getting wet so I didn't really mind, and kept on towards the stores instead of turning around and going home (DH has the car today). I was half speed walking/half jogging, and pass a young guy (I'd put him in his late teens/early 20s. We have a college here).

A few minutes later he grabs my arm (I nearly turned around and punched him, by the way) and insists I take his umbrella. I say "Thank you, but I'm alright." "Please, I insist." "No really, I'm okay." "Please, I have another one in my bag." Well at this point I'm not going to stand in the rain and argue so I take the umbrella and thank him very much. He kept walking in the opposite direction (I never did see him take another umbrella out).

It was a cheap thing, and almost gone blown apart with some wind gusts, but I was really grateful for it about ten minutes later when it was pouring.

Anyway, it was a very kind gesture from a stranger. Have you been on the receiving end of any random acts of kindness lately? How about the giving end?
